We have this one and both my 2yo and 4yo play with it. But they do not used the advanced features (games). I hope they will one when they are a bit older. But mostly they like to press the buttons and have the drawer open. They also like to scan things and put the credit card in its slot. If your DC is 4 or younger I would probably go with a cheapie one for now. That is a good price, though.

thanks for your feedback.I have the cheap one from target that has the scanner and microphone. Haven't given it to her yet.

how does the scanner work and where is it? can you put labels on items throughout the house?

This is the one I recently asked my mom to buy for DC from kidssurplus.com. It's solar-powered, comes with money and is a working calculator, but lacks scanner and the game functions. I thought this was a great one for my DC's skill level:

BONUS: When my mom ordered it a couple of weeks ago it was $27 and now it's on sale for $19.79!

can you tell me how the scanner works? I believe it says it's built in so I can't quite picture it. Hoping that the kids aren't really limited to what they scan. TIA for your help.

I think I have the same model you show above and the scanner isn't 'real'. Its more of a button and as you rub things (anything) over it it gives a random price.
