Does anyone have this?

I know this is a longshot, but I'm trying to figure out if ours is defective or not. I read a review that said they played with it for 20 minutes and never heard a story/song repeated. We play with it for two minutes and hear the same stories over and over again (although DS does keep hitting the button even before it stops). I'm not sure if it's the way we have it personalized (DS is only 18 months and so when it asked if he knew his letters and his colors, we said "no," and I wonder if we said "yes" if there would be more) or if something is wrong. We heard a story for the very first time today and we've been playing with it for a couple of weeks. Also, sometimes it won't turn on at all and once we turned it on by the foot and it went into the "master" mode and wanted to know if we wished to erase all the information! I did contact LeapFrog customer service and they weren't all that helpful, so I'm still trying to figure out if we have a defective one, or if this is the way it's supposed to be. It's not too bad, but it doesn't seem quite right.
We did buy a couple of extra cartridges (like the countdown to sleep) but when I put in the cartridge, it only told stories about sleep and none of the regular stories. Not sure if that was correct or not either?
Anyone have this product?
