View Full Version : Opinions on Kirkland (Costco) tissues and TP?

Does anyone use the Kirkland brand of kleenex or toilet paper from Costco? I was wondering how they compare to name brand Kleenex or toilet paper like Charmin.

Since you can't really just buy a small quantity to give it a try, I thought I'd ask. (I know I could take it back if we ended up not liking it, but I'd feel kind of funny trying to return an open package of toilet paper because it was scratchy or something! :P )

TIA for any reviews!

I have been using the Kirkland brand for a while now. I understand why you are wary. I felt the same way at first. I was used to Quilted Northern when we were members of Sam's Club. When we "defected" to Costco, I was actually sad to find out that Costso does not carry Quilted Northern. Instead, their own Kirkland brand is more like Quilted Northern. (I wonder whether that's why they have Charmin instead?) Anyway, I found myself not liking Charmin, so I bit the bullet and purchased the Kirkland brand. Well, they feel the same as Quilted Northern, so I am happy to save the money. :)

HTH.

We switched to both the Kirkland brand kleenex and toilet paper and really like both. Personally, I don't really like Charmin so the Kirkland brand worked for us. I like that they are individually wrapped as well so dust won't collect on them since it takes us a while to go through all the rolls.

We try to buy everything at Costco if possible.
With the Costco Amex we get 2% back plus as an Executive Member you get an additional 2% back. We just received our check and it was a nice sum of $. It's always nice to get a check in the mail.

Thanks for the comparison! I may buy a small thing of Quilted Northern at a regular store to see how we like it.

I did a side-by-side blind comparison of the Kleenex and the Kirkland brand tissues. I could identify the Kleenex - they are softer, but the Kirkland brand is nice too - not scratchy but not quite as soft.

I'm very picky about TP and tissues and we only buy Kirkland brand of both except for tissues with lotion since I don't think Costco makes those.

ETA: We also use Kirkland paper towels and napkins. Picked up everything but paper towels today :-)

We buy Kirkland brands on quite a few things are have been pleased with it all!

Yes, we buy Kirkland TP and will continue to buy it. We also use their laundry detergent as well as their diapers and baby wipes.

We love Costco.

We use both...we're huge Costco shoppers here. :) I'd highly recommend them. But, if you don't like them you should totally return them. I never even hesitate, I'm sure they wouldn't even blink. Costco's return policy absolutely rocks!!

Good to know about the TP! I am a total Quilted Northern girl. :)

We use the Kirkland TP and Paper towels. I love Puffs tissues so I haven't tried any other brands of those.

I do already use their papertowels, and I love them. That's why I was contemplating trying the tissues and TP too!

Kirkland TP is all we use, and we love it. It's also nice that the rolls are individually wrapped, which keeps them sanitized and covered if you want to keep a few rolls out or in the cupboard.

We've used Charmin, QN, Sam's, and Costco. We really don't have a personal preference but we noticed that when we used Charmin, our toilets would plug up occasionally (maybe that coincided with DD's pottytraining, LOL).

We talked to a plumber friend who said that Costco/Kirkland brand has the best, least clog-offensive TP around. He said that Kirkland TP breaks down the fastest. We made the switch and have been problem-free since.

....granted we have since trained DD to not use so much TP when she goes potty...

LOL! He'd kill me for saying this, but my DH is notorious amongst his family for being a toilet clogger. I may have to try the Kirkland stuff just to see if it makes a difference in the number of times the plunger gets used in our house! :+

My DD had her excessive TP clogging moments during PTing as well.

Funny!
We use Kirkland TP and DH still manages to clog our toilet a couple times every month. I wonder how many more times it would happen if we weren't using the Kirkland TP.
