Why is the FP DoodlePro rated 3+?

For Christmas we got E a FP DoodlePro (Magnadoodle) that said it was for ages 18mo+. The other large ones at the store came with smaller magnets, so I can see why they were rated 3+. He loves it so much, so I bought him a travel DoodlePro today, and it also says 3+, but I can't figure out why. Any ideas?

And what the heck is a screen saver pen???

I don't know why they rate it for 3+... thats just odd to me! My 20 month old loves his doodlepro/magnadoodle! I think the older pens if you pushed down hard could leave a mark.... maybe the new tip is easier on the "screen"???
