I bought the Baby 411 book when DD was born. It was great, but I'm now looking for a medical book for toddlers/young kids?

TIA! :)

I find theses 2 books helpful:
The AAP's "Caring for your Baby and Young Chilld: Birth to Age 5"- they have a big section in the back about common and less common illnesses and conditions as well as care recommendations.
http://www.amazon.com/Caring-Your-Young-Child-Revised/dp/055338290X/ref=cm_lm_fullview_prod_13/102-4416414-7333758

"The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears' also has great info on illnesses. I find thir recommendations to be more complete and it is just a handy resource to have on hand in the middle of the night. It is supposed to be for baby to age 2y but the illness stuff can last longer.

There is a Red Cross book on family safety and first aid that I just noticed at the bookstore and plan to buy in the immediate future. Can't seem to find it on amazon as their search engine stinks. :(

I second both books being super useful. You can get the first one (from the AAP) for free.

Here is the info snipped from the Bargains forum.

State Farm - Free Book. One of the best baby freebies around. 752 pages. Click the link below and scroll to the bottom. In the gray box, click on free copy of American Academy of Pediatrics "Caring For Your Baby And Young Child. Birth To Age 5."
Enter "good" for the username and "neighbor" as the password. Click "order online". Offer only good for expectant parents or brand-new parents of newborns.

I have both of the above-mentioned books as well and would recommend both, but especially the AAP book - it is fantastic. I love it because it has no agenda (pro-cio, pro-attachment parenting, pro-anything) - just the facts.
