Looking for a nice-looking play kitchen that's not pink!!
Any ideas for one that doesn't cost a fortune? I'd like to spend under $200.

We got our two girls the Kidkraft Lil' Gourmet Primary Kitchen and matching Lil' Gourmet Fridge for Xmas. Even though we have girls, I've always preferred the primary colored kitchens. We love the primary colors and the island style. The matching fridge acts as good storage space for all their play food. The prices we got were excellent at the time--got the kitchen on sale for $51.94 and the fridge on sale for $38.44. The current prices are still good for a Kidkraft kitchen set--$59.99 for the kitchen and $44.99 for the fridge at Babyuniverse.com. The kitchen even comes with some steel accessories (pans and spatula) and a chef's hat and apron. Great kitchen, good value, and our girls love it.

We have the Play Wonder one from Target. It's blue. It's $80 right now. We got it in the store, which also sells a matching market stand and a bunch of accessories.

ETA: This one is cute too: http://www.guidecraft.com/dyn_prod.php?k=4332&p=GDCG97258 for $200.

I had considered some others in the ~$150 range, but can't remember them.

We have one from Learning Express. It normally runs $200, but they have 20% off coupons frequently.

Have you checked out this wooden kitchen thread? Tons of info!

http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=12&topic_id=24124&mesg_id=24124&listing_type=search

We have the magic cabin kitchen (there are some pics attached to that thread) and DS loves it. He plays with it mulitple times a day and it fits perfectly in our kitchen. It cost about $100 with shipping and included pots, pans, utensils, and some play food.

Good luck with your search!

We're very thrilled with the one we bought from Toys From The Barn. It's completely unfinished, though. I have intended to oil it or something, but still have not (going on 3 years!).

Anyway, it's strong, sturdy and Dd regularly uses the doors for the oven and under-the-sink as a ramp to reach higher on it. Ds loved it for a long time, and still does have occasional bouts of cooking fever. Aside from the attacks it received from ink pens or stamps, you wouldn't know it's been here 3 years.

Just and FYI...Some Targets have had the Play Wonder kitchen on clearance so I called around last night looking for one. Most of the stores I called said they had it on Special Price for $69.99 but I found 2 that had it for $59.99. I went to pick one up and I scanned it and the price was only $49.99. I can't wait to put it together!

What did you say when you called? I would love to call around and see if any stores in MA have it on sale but don't want to drive all around looking for one.

Thanks,

Jessica.

Jessica,

When I called I asked for the toy dept. I just told them I was looking for the Play Wonder wooden kitchen, to see if they had it in stock and if so what the price was. My babysitter said she was at a different Target then the one I was at and they had it marked $69.99 but it rang up $59.99 so it seems like they are actually $10 less than the marked price.

Each Target prices their clearance items individually/differently. However, if you clue the salesperson onto a bargain it may very well suddenly be "out of stock" because they've decided to buy it.
