Curt turns 2 tomorrow. I made this banner inspired last year by Purple Daisy. Then again by Corie's Birthday banner post this past summer.

I decided to give it a good ole try. It was hard to do applique so it's not perfect but it is homemade by his Momma. ;-)

There are also photos of the party favor. I made Chalk Cloth Placemats out of Monkey fabric.

I also appliqued a "2" on a t-shirt for him and a 1/2 on a t-shirt for DD since she's going to be 6 months old tomorrow. It was DH's idea. Too funny.

One of my New Years Goals was to appreciate and make items "homemade."

Enjoy!

It all looks great. I love the 1/2 on the shirt!

How do you do the chalk placemats?

Hi Kris,

I put my chalk placemats instructions under Crafts.

It wasn't too hard. I ordered 3 yards of cloth and 3 yards of Monkey vinyl and the hardest part for me was cutting the 3 yards into the 12 x18 inch size I need just perfectly.

I'll post pics of the kids shirts later on today. I have my son's b-day party this morning at his MDO and I'll take photos then.

Can you teach me to sew??? :) :) :)

That turned out positively adorable. What a great family heirloom!!

I love cool traditions like that! :) Oh, and the tee shirt idea is really adorable too!

I've only been sewing since July. But I have come a long way since then.

It was my New Years goal in 2006 and now I am loving it.

I talked to DH and told him to help me achieve this goal. He took care of the kids for 4 weeks while I took classes. He's so great. He's been very supportive of my new fabric habit.

I wanted the kids to have some pieces that I made for them for the rest of their lives. I want to teach them that homemade items are special. And I hope one day we can do fun things together.

I had a blast doing it. It helped make watching the Oscars even more fun.

Thanks ;-)
