Lauren LOVES to read and is very into Berenstain Bears (grandma gave her the whole set at age 2). Problem is she is learning all kinds of not so nice things from the Berenstains (like mean words to call her sister!). I'm looking for a different set of books for about the same age range (4-8 or so) that are more positive. Anyone have the My First Little House books?

I tried one, but DD was bored. I don't think she's able to relate that well to prairie life??

She does like the Magic School Bus regular and chapter books, as well as the Cobble Street Cousins. I have let her read Junie B Jones and Ramona the Pest, but I'm not crazy about the language in those books, either.

We have "Going West" and I find it a little boring as well. It's just very simplistic; the story isn't very involved, nothing really happens, etc. What about American Girl books? (I have no experience with them myself.)

Magic School Bus books are very cool. We have the Science Fair one. It has a lot of "action" and words in it though, so I think it would be much better when DD is reading it herself.

What about the Frog and Toad series? Mouse Tales/Mouse Soup books by Arnold Lobel? DD likes them even now (2.5) and I LOVED them growing up.
