I know we've had this discussion MANY times, but I have to revisit for most up-to-date information. I want to spend betweeen $100-$150 on a kitchen for DS1's 3rd b-day. I'm starting to do my research now and need to know your thoughts. Also, I think I'd prefer wood over plastic, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. TIA!

I just bought this kitchen (exact) at Tuesday Morning for $50.00!!!!!!! They don't have a link so I googled it for you...
http://www.gummylump.com/front/f_product.php?id=2653

It is in perfect condition, it was $99 and I have been watching it since Christmas... first 25% off and yesterday 50% off... If you have a Tuesday Morning it will be in the clearance area... I was really excited. We are getting the girls a playhouse this spring it will be great to leave their current kitchen in the house and move this one outside...

Good Luck... HTH...

I second the Kidkraft Lil' Gourmet Kitchen above. We have it, along with the matching Lil' Gourmet Fridge. It is a wonderful kitchen, gender neutral, and good sized. It comes with accessories too--chef's hat, apron, metal pan and spatula. It's a great deal. I got mine through Babyuniverse.com, along with the matching fridge. I don't think Babyuniverse.com has the kitchen anymore, but they still have the matching fridge for $44.99.

My local Tuesday Morning had it as well back then for $79.99. But now $50 is a great price if you can still find it there.

We have gotten 3+ years out of our Step2 LifeStyle Dream Kitchen. It's a big hit around here. It comes with lots of extras like pots, pans, utensils and such so you have a good start just out of the box.

I am in the minority on this board; I don't mind plastic for some things and I really like bells and whistles like sound effects. :)
(You can always take the batteries out if you don't want sounds.)

I don't mind plastics either, I just seem to like the wooden kitchens better. I will definitely look into the step 2.

ETA: oh my gosh that is so so cute! I wish my kitchen was that cute. ;)

We just bought this KidKraft kitchen for my 16 month-old son. He LOVES it and so does his little friends who range in age from 12mo to 3 years. I bought it on sale at my local children's store on sale for $150.00. I appreciate that it is gender neutral in color and the added bonus of the grill. We feel like it is more bang for our buck.

We have the older model of this one http://www.babyuniverse.com/pro.asp?id=84048&rc=pricegraber84048&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=09-28038717-2 .

I think we payed $150 shipped for ours a few years ago. It is red with natural wood but otherwise identical.

It's cute, sturdy, and has held up well. We've had it since Jack was almost 3 and he will be 6 in April.
