Can anyone please suggest a good bathtub for our newborn. we have limited space, so its better if it is compact.
Also, which is the most recommended baby bath presently- J&J, Aveeno, Cetaphil. Gerber, California baby. Please let me know.
Thank you.

I do not have a recommendation for a compact baby bath. We used the Primo Eurobath is is quite large until DD was about 22 months.

I have recently started using California Baby on my DD and wish I had made the switch earlier. Yummy smelling, and very skin friendly. Target is now carrying California Baby products in the baby section.

We just used an inflatable bathtub that sat in our regular tub. Before DD could sit up on her own, we just used one of those huge baby sponges inside the inflatable tub. I know Target has a duck one now.

I used the sponge in the bathsoom sink for quite a while, then bought a little tub for $3 in a thrift shop. After a super good cleaning/bleaching, it is good as new, and I won't feel bad about getting rid of it when the time comes.

I store it in our shower which is really convenient. I only have to take it out to shower, then put it back so it isn't in the way at all.

I started out trying the Johnsons (drying), then the Aveeno (too perfumey) and finally settled on the Cetaphil. It doesn't dry her skin out. I also love the Burt's Bees baby shampoo bar for her hair. It really helped with the cradle cap.

Happy bathing!

The best compact baby bathtub is your kitchen sink, IMO. Or gettng into the tub with your child. I had the Eurobath, found it a complete PITA to use and switched over to just getting in the tub with my kids.

I use Burt's Bees Baby Bee Shampoo Bar on my kids' hair, but just let the warm water wash them clean. Newborns don't really need soap. The only time I use soap on my children is when they have been playing in something messy, like paint or mud, or have had a messy meal, like spaghetti. My kids also like the California Baby bubble bath.

We have the inflatable Munchkin brand Duck tub and really love it.

Both Caydence and Connor are able to use it and Connor still fits in there at 2 1/2 (he just likes for us to make it his little bubble bath) and he loves to squeeze the ducks bill and make him quack.
For Caydence who is now 6 months and still tiny for her age we can drape a towel over the side and prop her up and it's easy enough to use either in the tub or up on a table or countertop when the baby is littlier.

This one is a little bit bigger than other inflatable tubs I've seen, so there are other options as well. It's really cute though.

For a baby bath I highly suggest getting something with a mesh sling. It makes it SOOO much easier in the early days!

something like these

as far as baby bath supplies go we have always used Johnson's baby bath or my ped recommended Dove sensitive skin bar soap (only thing is you need to be careful about their eyes then!) I've heard good things about california baby but we've always been happy with Johnson so I didn't see the need to spend the extra $$! as far as lotion goes I Highly suggest Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Moisture Cream!

HTH's you!

ITA. The kitchen sink. We had a tub but didn't use it for more than a few weeks. We put a folded up towel or two in the sink and filled it with water.

We used the Sure Comfort Newborn-to-Toddler Tub. It had the mesh hammock insert. We used that while she was very young then the tub itself until she was about a year old. now she is in the big tub. Really for a newborn you can just even give them a sponge bath on some towels laid on your table.

I think the munchkin blowup tub is cute. I was going to get it for DD but she seems to like the big tub now so we are going to go without. Maybe if we had gotten it sooner it would have been okay.

I really do not like the Johnson's yellow bottle but got TONS of it at baby showers so we used some and took some back. She had major cradle cap problems and occasionally I still see traces of it. Lately it seems to be worse when I use the Johnson's so now I am wondering if the Johnson's was causing the cradle cap. When we used the Mustela Newborn foam shampoo the cradle cap started going away.

We also use the Newborn-to-Toddler tub
http://www.amazon.com/Sure-Comfort-Deluxe-Newborn-to-Toddler-Tub/dp/B000067EH7

Still use it with our 1 year old, and the hammock was perfect when she was a newborn.

We use Mustela 2-in-1 wash as well as the Newborn Shampoo to deal with cradle cap. They're very gentle and hypoallergenic. We've also used Aquaphor and find it gentle and mild.

We have this one and I love it ...... it folds flat - we've even traveled with it. We put 3M hooks on the shower wall that we hang it from. Our little guy is 25 lbs now and it still works great for us. I bath him while he's seated in this and then let him sit in the tub to play. No wrestling a slippery baby!

WIth my older 2, I had a fisher price baby bath that looked like a reclining seat and sat in my double kitchen sink. (similar to this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2403667&cp=2255976.2256088.2256094&parentPage=family ). It took up a bit of room, but I just let it dry in my kitchen sink and then leaned it up against my kitchen cupboard. It worked fine and lets be honest, it's not the largest piece of baby equipment you've got to store. What's more, they can be baught just about anywhere and for cheap.

For youngest DS, I had a friend give me this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2373640&cp=2255976.2256088.2256094&parentPage=family . the headrest and foot area fold in, so it takes up a lot less room. I know it got panned by a lot of people, but it worked very well for me.

We used the Safer Bather. You can see pics and read reviews on the link I provided below. This is what I would recommend. We were able to use it for a suprisingly long time. I used it first in the sink then in the bathtub. DD loved it and liked to kick her feet! We stopped using it when DD was sitting up well by her self. I thought it was great! It's about $15 and I've seen it at Babies R Us, Baby Depot (Burlington Coat Factory), and The Right Start. They are not at Target.

Don't waste your money on baby bath products. We just used a bottle of Cetaphil from Costco for body/hair like you would Johnson & Johnson. I liked the fact that their was no "junk" thrown in to the ingredients.

We used the Duck tub and I really liked it. We stopped using it about about 7 months and then DD just started bathing in the big tub.

Favorite bodywash is California Baby or Cetaphil.
