My 2 year old son loves to play guitar. Does anyone know where to find the best deal for toy guitar for toddler? Any suggestion for what type of guitar (acoustic, electric, etc) that will fit for 2 year old to play around?

Thanks
Susan

my sil bought ds the 'real' guitar from target's toy dept. I think it was about $30. He has a hard time carrying it- I added a strap- but he loves it. He was about 3 when he got it.

The last time I checked, Amazon had a few and you could even use Amazon for the reviews. I learned a little bit about toy guitars from their reviews.

Even though this says for age 7 and up, my parents gave this one to DD this past Christmas. She loves it and I really don't see any problem with a 2 year old using it. I try to make sure DD doesn't destroy it - she tried walking on it once - lol! Everything we looked at that was meant for toddlers was more like those plastic electronic things - yuck! Toys R Us also has them - I think my Mom used one of those $5 gift card things that come out around Christmas time.

Another vote for a "real" acoutic one. We got ours at Land of Nod. Alex saw it there once when Grandma was with us and he fell in love. Of course Grandma got it for him. I've never paid attention to the recommended age on it.
It was so beloved, that when we moved, I moved it separately to keep it safe - only to put it on top of the car and take off forgetting it was there. When I realized it about 1/2 hour later and went back it was gone. I had to go to Land of Nod the next day for a replacement. They were out and I had to have them call me the second the new shipment came it. It's still a favorite toy.

The only thing DS wanted for Christmas this year was a guitar from Santa, well, and a bicycle helmet, but at 2.5 , he really didn't need one yet- (once he starts riding a trike a bike, then for sure)-- so i found one on amazon, since it was for a toddler, i didn't want to spend a ton on it, if he likes it, then fine, we'll invest more as he gets older, KWIM? I forget exactly what we found, but it was like $20, and while it definitely does not hold a tune very well, or very long, he could care less... my little rock star loves it!! he even tells anyone who plays it, "strum it... like this!!" so cute!

My in-laws got DD a First Act mandolin at Wal-Mart. She was a little under 2 at the time, and the smaller size really works for her right now. It looks just like a guitar, pretty much - just much smaller. Unfortunately, it seems that it is no longer made.

When she gets a little bigger we'll move her up to the First Act guitar.

Little Lyon at Target for $30. It's made by Washburn.

This is my son's favorite guitar. It's really a ukulele but it is a perfect size for him. I would highly recommend it.
