PLEASE! I really know very little about boys' toys and I need help. DS loves all tractors and anything that is equipment-like.

Anyone have any great recommendations. Books, toys, etc.
TIA!

No specific recommendations, but I have a friend with a three year old son similarly obsessed for the past 2 years with tractors and equipment of all kinds. I know that she has found some fun things at a store called Van Wall (?) not sure if it is common everywhere. Basically a place that sells the John Deere riding mowers, tractors, and such will also have books, toys, etc related to tractors. I would never think to look someplace like that, but she's had a ton of luck there over traditional toy stores.

My 2 1/2 yr old is also obsessed with tractors right now...I think it all started when Grandma (who is 87 yrs old) gave him a tractor from the toy bin at her home. DH grew up on a farm and now DS and DH talk about tractors all the time.

I am also on a hunt to find tractors things for DS. Actually I was in the Dollar Tree yesterday and they had childrens melamine John Deer plates, bowls and cups so I got 2 of each (now I have to buy two since DD always wants what DS has). I thought it was a great price and DH loves them too!

Good luck on your search! I will let you know if I have any luck too!

Do you have this tractor? DS got it a few months ago, and he seems to really enjoy playing with it.

Looks like they also have a safari tractor, too:

Good luck with your search!

I was at Barnes & Noble today and they had a whole display with tractor toys and books.

Target sells John Deere toys in their toy section and they have toddler appropriate items. My DS loves John Deere and my parents bought him a JD ride on last year for his birthday. I bet your DS would love one of those when he is a little older! I *think* Little Tikes makes one that goes on foot power.

My MIL bought DS a plastic John Deere ride on toy when he was about a year old. He still plays with it at 3, so it has been $ well spent. She also got him a little plastic John Deere wagon, and he's recently gotten into hooking it to his tractor and he even gave his friend a ride recently in it :)

It is foot propelled, not the powered ones like the Peg Peregos. It used to vibrate or something like the engine was running when he sat on it, but I think at some point that feature broke.

I'm not sure where she found it...I'll look around and see if I can find it in another few days.

DS loves the Target John Deeres he got from my brother about a year ago. They are one of his most played with items. We have a tractor nut here too ;)

DH had a pedal propelled one like this as a kid and has very fond memories :) His was metal though.

some cute ride ons...foot propelled, pedal, automatic:

I can't find the one my MIL got. It would be perfect for an 18 month old IMO :) I'll look around more in the next few days.

DS is the same way! His current favorite is "Jack", a tractor from Thomas the Train, and my mother just bought him a John Deere tractor toy from a Tractor Supply Store. Also, DH found a Tonka tractor book at Books a Million, which he loves to look at, and I just started recording Bob The Builder for him.
