We have a nice playground with a big sand box within walking distance to our house and our nieghborhood pool has sand around the edge. However I think DD would play with sand more often if we had some in the back yard. I was thinking about just getting a plastic storage box--low and flat--like for under the bed and getting a few bags of sand. I could keep it on the back deck, DD could sit next to it to play and if she spilled it everywhere--no harm done. Has anyone done anything similar? Right now all DD (who is 16 months) likes to do with the sand is pour it from cup to cup. Is that a passing stage and she will want to sit in the sand next? Or should I just let her play in the big box and not worry about it at home?
