We bought a set from Costco a few years back and it has not stood up well to daily abuse. Most are missing the handles and some are looking like they might start to rust soon. It was one of those metal sets and I think the brand was Lil Gourmet. I'm looking for something new since Ruby is totally into the kitchen these days. I'm thinking wood is the way to go since it will last longer. Anyone have something they love? I will need a frying pan and 1-2 pots.

Here are a few I found

Melissa and Doug Cookware set. I like the pots but don't really need the stove part. Price is right. http://tinyurl.com/2qqjoy

Plan Toys. This could work though I am leary of metal. http://tinyurl.com/3cmc6b

Erzi. Love this but wish it had a frying pan.

Erzi frying pan. Could just buy this with the other set.

I've done a lot of research on metal toy cookware, so this is probably more information than you would ever want to know.

There's the Target brand Play Wonder. It is made by Battat. Their pot and frying pan are a little bigger and thicker than usual, more like PBK's, but there isn't a lot of variety of sizes of pots and pans in the set. That set also comes with a standard size colander and tea kettle (so the set isn't all to the same scale, in case that bothers you) and a bunch of other accessories including utensils that are to the larger scale. It's around $15. I couldn't find it online, but there's a matching baking set I found a picture of.

Bella Bistro by Toysmith has really nice metal cookware set. It's made of 18/8 stainless steel and you can actually cook in them. I think it's to the larger scale as well. It looks like it retails for around $20.

There's also enamel cookware too. Alex makes one, and Schylling does too.

Plan Toys has a wooden set that's probably nice--their stuff is very well made. It's called their cooking utensils set.

I'm not sure if Haba and Selecta has something, but their wooden food is really nice, so you could look into that as well.

I like the Ezri stuff :) We don't have it though.

I was going to buy pots and pans for DS's playkitchen back in the day, and he basically just took over and adopted my pots and pans. It is sad that I have to "borrow" my pans back from him sometimes LOL. He now has several of them hooked over his playstand canopy with S hooks ;) Crazy kid.

If I was buying I think I like the look of the Ezri best.

The Melissa and Doug one with the mini stove comes in really handy. DD's kitchen is upstairs so we keep the stove tray in a cupboard in the real kitchen so she can cook along with me if she wants.

Thanks for your post. We don't have Target here but the Toy Smith brand looks nice. I've seen it before in some local toy stores.

I am totally anti enamel. We had an Alex picnic set and the bottoms totally rusted through. I think DS might have put water in just once or twice. We live in a high humidity area plus are close to the ocean so we have salty air. Everything rusts so that's why I'm looking at wood.

I saw that you have received a lot of suggestions already, and found out that you don't have a target near you. Just want to cast my vote for Target's play pots and pans too, in case somebody else is researching for play pots and pans. They look really nice and at a good price. We are very happy with ours.

In addition, if you happen to have an IKEA near you, they also carry play pots and pans.

Cheers, Lin

Here are a few more ...

We have the kettle. It is nice, but it is pretty heavy. Not too heavy for a little one to carry, but heavy when it gets dropped on the floor or thrown around.
