Cranium Hullabaloo game? I feel like I always buy something not quite right for this particular boy -- maybe because I have no clue what to buy for boys and he is also a couple years older than DD#1.
TIA

Absolutely. It's very cool and not annoyingly loud.
Good choice!

Thanks! :)
Yes, volume is an issue, isn't it? I want to shoot the "friend" who got DD#1 the Lucky Ducks game. Ugh!

My neighbor was just telling me today how fun this game is. Her son is 5 in September and enjoys it. She said even grandparents play and everyone has a good time.

Ds is almost 5 and loves that game! We have bought it for several 5yos this year.

Also good for that age are Jr. Labyrinth and Rush Hour Jr. We like Hullabaloo but find it requires a larger group of kids to be really fun. It tends to be more of a party game. Cariboo, also by Cranium, was a bigger hit here but may skew a little young. Rush Hour is a one person game and can keep my 5 yr old involved for a loooooong stretch of time. Labyrinth is good for just 2 people and up to 4 I think. If he's less of a sitter/thinker and more of an action guy then Hullabaloo is probably the better choice.

Jr. Labyrinth rocks! We have been playing it almost daily. It is great for problem solving and spatial skills, imo.

Blokus is also recommended for 5 & up. I gave it to a friends son last year for his b-day. We went on vacation with them a week later and his dad wanted to play it every night! It is also a thinking game.

Blokus is great fun for adults, too, but my 4.5yo understands the concept well enough to play a simple game with us. Obviously he can't pull off the strategy but still enjoys it.

That is probably the 1 game we don't own yet. We have heard lots of good things about it and almost bought it before. Sounds like a Father's Day gift to me!! Something for ds and dh. :)
