View Full Version : Which Potty Protector/Cover is best?

I have a portable potty, but today got caught without it and wished I had a Potty Protector/Cover to put on the public restroom instead of having to paper it. I also have the folding sesame potty seat, but again, today didn't have anything with me, so I'd like to keep a couple of these in my diaper bag for emergencies.

Does anyone recommend one in particular, and does anyone have experience with either of these:

That's funny -- we have both. DD#1 prefers and asks for the Dora ones. Probably just because they have Dora on them, not for any other reason.

I wish they were flushable. Maybe they are, I haven't read the instructions (LOL!), but they don't "feel" flushable -- very plasticky.

i just wanted to throw out there that i remember reading a post on this board a long time ago about people using the Glad Press and Seal for covering public potty seats. we've never tried it, but it's a great idea IMO!

Not flushable.
DD likes the Dora ones too. She wouldn't sit on the flushable ones that are provided in (some) public restrooms UNTIL she got used to the Dora ones. The Dora ones are nice because they are wide enough that DD can put her hands down on the seat without touching the seat.

I remember that post too. How does it work? Do you just bring a roll around with you and poke a hole in the middle of it or do you lay down strips?

I tried it. What a PITA! Maybe I just don't have the patience, but man, I can barely deal with plastic wrap in the kitchen, let alone a public restroom!

Most of the time, DD#1 uses toilet paper on the seat, just like mommy. I hold her so she's barely touching the seat anyway.

I heard about a mommy designed product recently called the potty poncho... but i think you could make something like that out of an outdoor tablecloth if you wanted!!

I've seen that. I'm all about reusing things, but pulling the poncho off a public potty, packing it in my bag and then reusing it is soooo ick to me! :P

Thanks for these responses -- I think DD would like the Dora one, too, but the other one seems like it's more oversized and would drape over the sides better. I'd like to clorox the whole bathroom and then wrap the whole toilet in saran wrap if I could, lol!! The whole thing is soooo gross ... necessary but gross.
