I don't post here often, but I know this is the place to be to find the perfect thing! I did a search, but most of the threads were so old that the links didn't work anymore. I have two questions:

1. In your experience, would you prefer wood or cloth? I would prefer wood, but I want to keep it forever. I'm thinking a 3 or 4 foot piece of wood might be a pain to store away. What are your opinions?

2. Just looking for some suggestions. I found one I love, but it's $55 + shipping. Would like something a little less expensive.

ETA: I think I'd prefer one without picture frames/holders.

Thank you!

Not wood or cloth but these Eeboo growth charts are made of sturdy laminated cardboard and are awfully cute:

I half heartedly look for a good growth chart now and again but haven't found one that I loved (at a price I loved). But, I did decide that I would want cloth b/c it would store easily and more compactly.

I agonized a long time over growth charts and decided to go with a plain wooden one from an Ebay seller. I figured that with the decorated ones, they might not last as long in terms of decor as the child grows older. Plus, with a plain one, I could put all the kids' heights on it using different colored pens (future kids that is, as I only have one now, lol.)

I haven't really thought about storage yet, but I figure that it's thin, so hopefully, it won't be a problem (besides, that's light years away from now.)

I bought this Pottery Barn kids tree one on sale at the store for $29.99, I had to ask the sales person and they had some in back--they told me that at times there are things on sale that are not on display--weird! I saw it on sale at one PBK but they did not have any more but told me that there were a lot at the warehouse they just didn't know when they would be coming to the store. It is not in the online catalog.

It is pretty cute and GN it goes to over 5 feet tall--I almost still fit on it!

Here is a link to one on ebay--but $40 shipping--crazy!

I have the chalkboard ruler one from PBK:

It's metal and comes with three little arrow magnets as markers. I got mine from a B&M store at the beginning of this year. They weren't on display or anything at the store - I saw it online and went into the store to see it in person. They had to bring it out from the stock room.

Yeah, I saw that one and really liked it, and it would fit the decor in DD's room, but the shipping is ridiculous! I will keep my eye out for it though.

I saw this on eBay as well and thought it was pretty neat since it starts at 18". You can chart from birth on (well, we could since DD was 19"). It's just so big!

Ask your local PBK because they frequently keep things in the back without a display! That's how I got mine 2 wks ago.

We have one from www.mygrowingchild.com and we are very happy with it. Good price, durable, and lots of choices :)
