Are bathtub paints different from regular finger paints?

They are about twice the price and I am wondering if there is a reason I cannot just use what I have. Thanks!

The bathtub paints that I have used are soap based. Remember that the paint will get in the water the kids are sitting in, so potentially the regular finger paint might be kind of irritating to their skin. I don't think I'd use regular finger pain for that reason, but my kids' skin gets irritated easily. Even the soap paints dry their skin out, so I limit how often they get to use the stuff.
