has anybody used one of these?

http://www.snugandtug.com/index.htm

looking for something to replace miracle blanket, which is now too small (ds wiggles out). but he definitely still needs to be swaddled.

this comes in two sizes (0-3 & 3-6 mo.). i'm thinking the bigger one might work, but it's kind of expensive ($40) so i'd like some feedback first.

tried making my own swaddler, but it's not turning out so well.

tia!

When my girls were newborns, I used the Kiddopotamus Swaddle Me with them. I had a few of them and rotated them between washings. Easy to use, and they worked just fine for me. I only swaddled them for the first few weeks though, so I'm not sure how well they work for older than that.

we also used the swaddle me (got ours at BRU) until ds was about 8 mo. when we stopped it took a good two or three days of getting up all night long tucking him back in. but this worked great for us. i skipped the small and went straight to the large. good luck. i hope you find something that works for you.

Sorry, no experience with it, though it does look cute and I may try it with the twins.

I was watching the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and Harvey Karp mentioned that a square receiving blanket is ideal for swaddling. I had picked up The Ultimate Receiving Blanket by Swaddle Designs the day before for my SIL who's babe is only 2 weeks old. She has been getting out of her blankets. I remember reading about the Miracle Blanket having like 6ft of material! The one by Swaddle Designs is 42x42.

Just another suggestion lol! ;)

Swaddling is gaining popularity as it is increasingly recommended by experts. Dr. Harvey Karp, MD. author of the popular book “The Happiest Baby on the Block believes that swaddling helps babies be content and sleep longer, sometimes through the night. As he puts it: “It’s time for swaddling to make a comeback. He writes: “Swaddling is the cornerstone of calming. It is the most important first step. It lowers a baby's heart rate, decreases startling, and increases sleep. It gives nurturing touch, stops flailing and focuses your baby's attention. Babies whose arms are out and flailing around have a much more difficult time being calm.

Says Dr. Karp: “Swaddling imitates the restrictiveness of the womb during the last two months of pregnancy. I recommend wrapping babies with their arms straight at their sides. Wrapping with flexed arms usually fails because the arms soon wiggle free. … “Babies do not need to be swaddled all day long; however, fussy babies or infants who need to sleep more at night can greatly benefit from snug wrapping in a large square blanket 12 to 20 hours a day. Tight swaddling may even lessen the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) by keeping babies from accidentally flipping onto their stomach. … “Your baby will absolutely love swaddling. I often find that during the first three months of life, just by swaddling a baby and using white noise in the bedroom, they'll sleep an extra hour or more each night.

ETA-Make sure you are wraping him up tightly and with his arms at his sides. I've heard parents on this website mention that they have used their Amazing Miracle Blankets succesfully up to 8 months old! So maybe you just need to get a bit more aggressive lol?! ;) The DVD has a great demo on how to do this effectively. I checked mine out at my local library.

We are in a similar predicament. I have tried the swaddle me since it comes in larger sizes but it's a joke- ds gets out of that thing in seconds! It just does not restrain his arms at all. I'm thinking I'm going to try going to a sleepsack for a few days and if he doesn't get it we might try this one. Have you tried using the MB for the arms only and leaving the legs out or putting a sleepsack over it?
