She's either going to be 5 or 6? I have NO IDEA what to get her, i'm thinking around $20 or so. I'm checking out lands end overstocks now for something to maybe put her name on. Any other ideas? Do little girls like purses? Maybe a small VB one if I can locate a 20% off code or one on swap?

My niece (nieces) is/are really into music, she think she is going to be a Rock Star. Music?

They like games too.

Craft stuff goes far.

Beach or bath towel set? I have seen great options at TJMaxx lately you could have personalized lately.

LE had cute bath towel sets for around $25 I believe.

Faux make-up... lip gloss, lotions, etc.

My Mom just make the boys travel kits, I could see my nieces loving that! What about a travel bag with good girlie stuff like lip gloss, lotion, hair do-dads, cute brush/comb, travel toothbrush and toothpaste, travel size items, etc. Gosh, I would have loved this. I would do this for x-mas for all nieces and nephews if we did not have a book only rule.

Step 1 / Level 1 books? She will be reading soon if she is not already.

Here's a thread with some ideas:

I actually like the VB idea a lot. My DD loves anything personalized. She has a LE tote bag that she got as a gift with her name and she adores it.

Does she take ballet? A dance bag or a tutu would be good choices.

I'll be the voice of dissent on the craft ideas. Honestly, I hate it when people give DD those kits with a zillion little pieces that are soooo popular for girls. She can't do the stuff without help so I end up doing the craft for her and it always seems to make a big mess.

My DD loves books of all kinds. She's a beginning reader so especially loves books that she can read by herself. Since she may already have a lot of books, maybe a gift certificate to Borders or B&N so she can pick out some books for herself?

She also likes puzzles and games of all sorts.

is she into webkinz? I get them at my local Education Warehouse. For that price point you can get her a small one and purse. Gift certificate to a book store is a great idea. Some other ideas are sketch pad/journal with pencils and a small bag to hold/carry them in. Groovy girls, beach towel, jewelry, personalized note paper...

If she hasn't lost her first tooth yet, you can get her a tooth fairy pillow.

My DD is 4- I recently bought a couple of these books for future gifts - they are on super sale from amazon.com: It is a form of silly "princess guide" with sparkly pictures:

http://www.amazon.com/Princess-Glittering-Ladies-Genuine-Authentic/dp/0763634301/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-2556585-4075222?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1181756312&sr=8-2

Girls love to paint and draw so those things are popular like finger paints and paper. I like the tooth fairy pillow idea. But books always work. I like board games/puzzles but often a child already has the exact game you buy them so I don't buy popular board games anymore as gifts.

Perhaps a gift certificate to somewhere like bath and body works and take her there with you on a special trip?

Wow I am going to be well armed w/ a shopping list at the mall LOL! I definitely needed the help as I'm in a mode of cars-trains-planes!

She's a girly girl and her mom writes music for grammy awarding winning singers/groups! She's been in daycare w/ my DS since daycare opened their doors nearly 2 years ago!
