Hi, I'm looking for a nice toddler size table and chairs.
I found one this past weekend at IKEA (Latt-see http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20072816) but when I got it home I realized it was very poorly made and I couldn't assemble it because the parts wouldn't fit together. The table and seats were just laminated fiberboard.

I'm willing to spend more $$ for a quality set.

Thanks

We bought this one at IKEA. I was looking at the other one (that you bought) but liked this one better in person.

This is unfinished furniture, so we decided to sand then stain it (before we assembled it). We used a dark wood stain, and put a few coats of clear finish on the top of the table, and it turned out really nice! The chairs are a little heavy, so when she knocks one over it makes a big bang, but they are very sturdy, too.

The kid-sized table and chairs is on sale at Sur la Table. We just got a set for DD/DS. It's super cute and sturdy too.

Table and 2 red chairs $99.96. Table and 2 pink chairs is $69.49.

Extra sets of 2 chairs (pink and red) are available. Red chairs are 79.95 and pink chairs are 44.96.

Hope this helps.

I have this table:

and this chair:

from Ikea and love them. My 5 year old still fits in them. Heck, I fit on the chairs LOL. They come in various colors, so those are not your only choices.

I have the same IKEA table/chair set.

DS loves it and so do we. He does his "homework" on it and when it's computer time, his laptop fits on there perfectly. It's made wood and we painted the table top and chair seat/back fire engine red and varnished the whole thing. It's become his sticker table - any stickers he gets from swim lessons, school, restaurants - he sticks on the corner.

The only drawback is the size. It's prefect for one kid but not 2 if they eat on it or do any kind of art project.

This is kind of random, but it worked for our good friends. Our local prison has a wood shop and custom furniture business. You take a picture of what you want and they make it for you in whatever wood and finish you want. They do a great job and are very very cheap. A friend just picked up a beautiful toddler chair and table set for under $200, solid maple etc. I am getting ready to go to the shop and have them make me a set. Ours only takes cash, so no personal info gets passed onto the prisoners. I was a little sketched out at first, but it is an interesting idea.

yeah, I went to IKEA to look for that one awhile ago and decided it was too cheap. Also, the lip on the edge of the chair seats I thought would make it hard for DS to slide onto the seat, and possibly uncomfortable. I'm still looking, so will be interested to hear what other say.

Last week at costco I saw a very cute table and chairs set for around $100 it had a paper roll holder like the pottery barn set. I also have the wooden set for Ikea that pp mentioned. We painted it blue and it is super cute.

We have the same chairs but the lower table:

My 2 1/2 year old is pretty tall, but his feet still dangle in the chairs. I do anticipate getting more use out of them later on. We get lots of compliments and since the legs come off, we have taken it to Thanksgiving at a friend's house to use as a kid's table.

Hi,

Have you had two or more kids sit at the table? In the picture, there are two kids but one is standing :)

I wonder if it would have the same problem that a pp said about the Ikea table...not big enough for two and a project.

Thanks!
