We are having a bubble party for DSs second birthday and I am looking for fun ideas. I have recipes for making bubble solution and plan to set out large tubs of it. Any suggestions on fun, different bubble wands to use? I'm thinking of making the "goodie bag" a bottle of bubble solution and cool wand that they can use during the party. I'd also like to buy a bubble machine - anyone have one they really like? Any ideas for a cake? I'd love any other ideas. Thanks so much!

Check the Dollar Spot at Target. We picked up large bubble wands there recently and they work really well. They kind of look like a flower shape and they come with a small flat round tray for the solution. If they don't have them at Target, try a dollar store. I think we bought one at a dollar store a couple of years ago.

I just bought a "Gazillion Bubbles" machine for 10 bucks. My 22 month old and her almost 3yo buddy went absolutely goofy for it. "More bubbles" is the only thing we've heard since we pulled it out of the box for the holiday. The dogs have fun, too.

I was just coming back to suggest one of those bubble machines. We picked up one a few months ago after DS loved one he saw at the birthday party of another BBBer's DS. We have spent a lot of time in "Bubble Land" lately, as my DS calls it.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I will definitely check Target for wands. Do either of you know which bubble machine you have - I did a search and it looks like there are several made by Gazillion. Thanks again!

I had a bubble party last year for my DS's 3rd. I posted a couple of pictures in this thread: http://tinyurl.com/265cd4

I bought these wands from Oriental Trading Company for favors with a regular size bottle of bubbles: http://tinyurl.com/2xolp2. A unit is 14pcs - To save on cost, each unit was 14pcs and I split them up so that each kid got 7 each, including the pan to hold the solution.

Hope that helps! Happy Planning!

Hey Shelly!

I think a bubble party is such a great idea. How bout getting some of those clear plastic ballons (you know the ones you can put stuffed animals/toys/confetti in)?

For a cake how about these pans by Wilton:

http://www.cakerysupplies.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=1508 (small bubbles)

And one big bubble:

You could color them a blu-ish white and even some pinkish white...the various colors of bubbles. I think that could be very cute!

Gazillion does make a bunch of bubble stuff. The machine is called "Gazillion Bubbles". It looks like a small fan. It's round, purple and green, and has a "blade" of wands that rotates.

We did this for E's party last year. Do a search, b/c I got some great ideas from the gals here.

Cake.... we did a turtle cake b/c that is what E's room is. Sorry, not bubble related.

E got a Little Tykes animal that blew bubbles that worked out great. I went crazy and picked up any fun bubble thing I found. We had a few small plastic pools of solution (I made it in milk jugs.) and an empty one that we filled with the toys. I made goodie bags filled with bubble gadgets.

Someone where had a bubble magician, looked like so much fun! Could not find such a thing here.

Experiment with making solution. They glycerin is key I learned. Fun thing to experiment with!

We did but a bunches of clear balloons that we put in clusters. Decorating on polka-dots would be fun and easy.

Such a fun theme, we had a blast (hahaha) with it.

Do have some Mr Bubbleators (or something like that) from Target. They were a huge hit with the older kids. Makes big bubbles! We wore one out! There is a Klutz bubble book and wand, get it and study up for yourself. In there they have fun ideas for wands, all the way down to berry containers. I confess, I have the book from college b/c blowing bubbles was my stress reliever (still is!)

Have a BLAST.

That looks like it was a great party! I love the photo of your DS inside the bubble. My son would think that was really cool. Maybe I should try it with a hula hoop and a baby pool.

I spotted a Gazillion bubble maker + extra solution @ Costco a while back. They might still have some left.

I saw Casey Carle at our local science center and he was awesome. I checked out his website and he has some recipes on there. His book, Bubbleology, is lots of fun. They sold out in the giftshop and I keep forgetting to order it from Amazon.

He has good FAQs & tips here:

and here are his recipes:

*he has some interesting notes on avoiding the new Ultra Dawn/Dawn Complete

Here's another site on bubble performers - you might find one local to your area?

He also has recipes and other bubble-related info:
