I am just starting to look for a new full size bed for my DD. I want to get something that will last long into her teen years, so nothing babyish and something that is built to last. Pottery Barn is too expensive, though I like thier look. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good manufacturer of beds?

Thanks!

We got DD a Flexa bed. It's not Pottery Barn, but I'm very pleased with the quality and it will definitely grow with her. As DD grows, we'll be able to loft the bed for a play area underneath, or a study workstation or lounge as she gets older. I've never been a huge fan of pine, but as we shopped I kept seeing furniture that seem just a little too old for my 3-year-old, and I kept coming back to the fact that we can customize this Flexa bed to DD's age and needs.

You can download their catalog to get a feel for different configurations. I was lucky enough to have a local retailer 10 minutes away from me so I could check out the quality in person.

Flexa's been mentioned a few times on the toddler boards if you do a search.

Here's DD exploring her bed after we first put it together.

I am going with Oak Designs in natural birch to match DD's natural maple ragazzi dresser. The quality and details are amazing, and the great thing is with most of the styles you can go w/out a foot board and just have it a finsihed wood rail at the bottom end it saves over $150 off the price of a twin size. I saw the arc style and mission style in person and it is much nicer looking than in the pictures on-line (I actually went from hating it to loving it). The arc style w/o the footboard has some really different details with the slats that looks much better in person, definitely could be appealing to a teenager or even an adult.

I was told it is made in Manchester, NH and the company has been in business longer than Ragazzi was. I have now priced it at two stores along with Rumble Tuff and Mother Hubbards Cupboard brands, and both stores have said this is the best qualtiy for beds and dresser drawers.

We have an Oak Designs bed (Rockport style in oak) for DD and it's very well made. They have a lot of finishes so you can likley match or come very close to any shade you have in mind.

We've also got Oak Designs Rockport design in birch with the trundle underneath. We also got a matching dresser and nightstand. Excellent quality, and something DS won't be embarassed to use when he's 15!

What is the price range of Oak Designs furniture? I know that depends on dealer/your location, but does anyone who bought the furniture mind sharing the price range?? Thanks.

We purchased the "Hometown Bed". This is the link to it at Sears but we got ours off an internet site and it is in Honey. I like that color better b/c I think it matures better than white. It is really well made and isn't theme specific...

We bought good solid wood furniture for both of our kids. I would recommend Martin's Furniture in PA. You can shop online. They are fantastic. Everything is built from scratch and are reasonable. You can even pick your finish and hardware. They have a huge selection. Everything you can see online is customizable. I knew I went to the right people when he said, "less wood, less money". I got a 54" dresser with mirror, bed (the we customized so that it doesn't have tall posts), and a dresser that I had made 32" wide instead of 35". All the drawers are dove tailed. Premium construction. They ship to many states. Here is their website: http://www.martinfurniture.net/home.nxg. These are amish people who are fantastic to work with.

Check it out!

My kids have Dutailier furniture (used to be EG). It is really great, but I'm not sure it's any less than PBK.

I got DDs bedroom set at Ashley Furniture. It was 2 yrs ago so I don't remember the exact price, but I think it was around $600 for the whole set. Full size bed, 2 nightstands, dresser with mirror. It's very well made and I know it will last for a long time. We bought all our furniture at Ashley.

We got your bed at Room and Board - not cheap, but solid wood and made in the US. LOVE the Imagine Duo bunk bed. http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/category.do?method=get&id=96
Flexa is really nice, too.
