I am looking for a book about families - basically something that would show that not all families are the same (some have a mom and a dad, some just a mom, some just a dad etc etc). My DD is almost 2 but it is something I would like to start teaching her about now. I am a single parent and have noticed recently that DD is very conscious of "moms and babies". When I mentioned "Dad" the other day she just drew a blank. I want to make sure she knows about all different types of families.

TIA,
Susan

try "the Family Book" by todd Parr. i think it would be perfect.

we've liked all of Todd Parr's books. we also have (and love) "the Mommy Book" and "the Daddy Book" but maybe you don't want those since each talks only about whichever parent is in the title ('some mommies work in an office; some mommies work at home...all mommies like to watch you sleep!'). there are great illustrations too.

Hi Anne - thanks so much for the suggestion! It is exactly what I was looking for. Warming up my credit card for Amazon. :)

Thanks again,
Susan

you're welcome!

it's dangerous to shop at amazon isn't it?? so much to order. LOL

definitely check out the other Parr books next time you are at the bookstore or library. you'll like those too--the illustrations are so funny! :-)

good luck. :-)
