View Full Version : Safe Mini Trampoline Recommendations?

I'm interested in buying a safe, mini trampoline for my almost 3 1/2 year old and almost 2 1/2 year old girls. Does anyone have any recommendations on safe ones that could be used indoors? I missed out and didn't buy the one that went on clearance at Target for $40 after Xmas. Does Target still sell them (sale or no sale)? Any recommendations on what type and where to buy? Thanks!

I looked at the kid ones, but heard that the Target one was nearly impossible to put together and then a review of one of the kid ones mentioned that it only went up to 70 lbs (not a problem yet, but maybe someday) and I ended up with one that is technically used for exercising for adults. It's either this one, or very close to it:

I love it. We have the handle on the lowest setting (not even a setting, just in place), so DS can hold on. If I wanted to use it, I could (goes up to 250 lbs!). It was about 1/2 the price of the ones I could find geared specifically toward kids. It was "fairly" easy to put together. DS is a jumper and he loves it. We've probably had it for about six months so far and although he doesn't use it for a long time, he uses it many times a day (and we have it inside in our playroom).

HTH.

I have the one from Target and so does my niece. It is a 2 person 30min job but NOT that hard to get it together. We love ours :) They usually have them closer to the holidays and I think last 2 yrs prices were 39.99 and they will run a 34.99 sale during the christmas holiday rush. Ours is 2 1/2 yrs old an holding up very well.

Great idea! Can you tell me if the space to jump is too small for a jumpy 2.5 yr old? Do you know what I mean? I could see her jumping right off it if it is too small.
Thanks!

It's a pretty good size (for a mini one). DS is by no means the most coordinated kid, but he's pretty good on it (and big for his age). We remind him to hold on and most of the time he does fine. Holding on keeps him in one spot mostly. He jumps not holding on sometimes (of course), but, knock on wood, hasn't yet fallen or jumped off of it by accident. On purpose is another story though...

we too have the one from Target and LOVE it. It was a PITB to put together but by no means impossible. for the price/size you really can't go wrong. I like that it's square and not round.

Thanks for all the suggestions! This is probably a silly question, but only one child can jump at a time, right? I assume it's a danger for two? Also, I read in the news last week that a child was found dead on a trampoline--his neck was caught in a loop on the exterior of a big circular trampoline in his front yard. Of course that horrified me and made me have second thoughts. But I believe that trampoline is one of those large, outdoor trampolines, and not a mini indoor one. I think a mini one would be fine for indoors.

We were looking for the same thing, and ended up going with the jellybean jumper from one step ahead. It has a weight limit of 250 lbs I think and it says two kids can jump in it, but we've had 4 with no problem. My 2.5 year old loves it because she can hold onto the wall and jump at the same time. If it fits, I would recommend that.

Both my kids jump on it at the same time even though we constantly remind them NOT to do that due to bumps and bruises.

OMG about the dead child. SCARY!

We have this one from Ryan's room and while it's bigger than a trampoline, it's totally worth it. There are no metal parts or handles to fall on and the kids can use it for other things. DS uses it as a pirate ship (my spatulas are his oars), he puts it up against the wall and it becomes his teepee, he and his friend leaned it against the couch and climbed up/slid down when they were mountain lions. It's great to see their pretend world.

It's definitely bigger than a mini trampoline so you'd need the space for it. We store it upright against the wall between the wall and the couch. It's light enough for DS to pull it out whenever he wants to bounce into the ball pit (the cheap plastic pool filled with plastic balls). He has to learn to bounce straight up on the red circle so it's helped with his balance. When he bounces on it, I tuck it against the couch so then he jumps from the couch to the bouncer when he's playing Superman.

My friend has a trampoline for her son (who's been diagnosed with SPD) and she said her son doesn't use it after the initial ohh-ahh phase. She said it was an eye-sore since she always has to watch out for her 14m daughter banging into it or falling off it. With the RR's bouncer, our girls (14 & 15m old) just slide down the sides.

I remember seeing it at Target, but it wasn't Ryan's Room (I got mine at Costco for $18 last year). I think it's that Target brand.

These two look nice, but not keen on the $23 shipping for the first one (Joey Trampoline)--

and this one, except for the high price and TOO low weight limit of 50 lbs. which won't work at all for me--

The second one looks like the one at Gymboree Play.

Does anyone know of any cheaper place for the Joey Trampoline?

Does anyone have either the Joey Trampoline or the Galt Trampoline?

http://www.creativekidstuff.com/joeytrampoline.html

http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=O+2+2500X

The Joey Trampoline supposedly has a 130 lb. weight limit, and the Galt one has a 77 lb. weight limit. Yet the Joey Trampoline looks smaller overall with a smaller jumping area. The higher weight limit and lower price of the Joey Trampoline appeals to me, but I can't seem to find it anywhere other than that one online store. The Galt Trampoline is sold at many places online with prices varying from $84 (with high shipping) to $140.

Any thoughts, user reviews or opinions on either or both? I welcome any comments or advice! I always welcome the advice of my fellow forum mommies!

My dh just put ours together last night and the place where you jump is not very tight, kinda wrinkly looking. Is this the way it is supposed to be? He said there is no other way he could have put it together. The kids can still jump on it , it just does not look right to me.

There is a Galt Trampoline at the playclass Dora belongs to. It will fit two toddlers at a time. The kids love it, whether they're just starting to bounce (like Dora. She's too light to really be airborne) or really jumping.
