After the Thomas recall someone very thoughtfully started a "Made in the USA" post for toys. It went alright except it was mostly wooden trains sites that were posted. I am very excited to learn about these trains and have already picked out a few I'm going to give DS for Christmas but I thought we should try another made in the USA post. I went through our house and looked at some of DS's favorite toys and found that most were made in China which scares me with all these recalls going on but I found a few favorites were made in the USA. Here's my list:
Little Tykes Cozy Coupe
Little Tykes Rocking Dog
Step 2 Water Table
Mega Blocks (made in Canada)
Ikea trains (make in Europe)
Lauri sewing cards
Lillian Vernon Cardboard Building Blocks
Please give your toys a look and let us know some of your favorites that are not made in China.
Thanks,
Sarah

Legos are made in Europe. The old ones I had were made in Western Europe; some of the newer ones are made in Eastern Europe.

We have Ravensburger puzzles and games made in Germany and Czech Republic.

The Selecta toys we have are made in Germany.

Plan Toys is made in Thailand.

some of these may be repeats, but these are some I've found:

www.maplelandmark.com (we have a few of the trains, not the Thomas/Brio scale, but they are beautiful. They do also have available a small size that are compatible with other wooden railway like Thomas and Brio). eta: they also have a lot of toys available without paint of any type, which may be a good option for chewers, even if the paint is non toxic, kwim? I will also say we have two sets of Dominos for DS from my MIL, and both sets reeked of some sort of varnish or wood stain when the container was opened. NOt sure what that's about. But the train we have is lovely and never smelled icky or anything. THey do have unpainted trains, trucks, etc. too.

www.heirloomwoodentoys.com has a link to search for made in the USA toys

ETA: as far as Euro toys, *most* haba *wooden* stuff is still made in Germany. The fabric types of toys are pretty much all made in China. Some of their blocks are also made in China. One or two other things as well. But the vast majority of wooden things they make are still made in Germany. We just opted for the Haba walker wagon over the Radio Flyer because I preferred made in Germany to made in China. I hope the retailers will eventually get the message :(

We also have a few Vilac toys that are made in France. Not sure what percentage of their stuff is, but it might be worth a look.

I don't own anything made by Selecta but they seem to have some stuff still made in Germany.

I'm hoping to get DD a nesting rainbow set from Spiel Und Holz for Christmas. It looks like quite a few of their things are still made in Germany. Pricey but IMO they seem to be heirloom quality.

This is a great thread!

In addition to the Ikea trains, the abacus, cogwheel board, and crane I purchased last week (all from the MULA line) were all made in Bulgaria.

A Toy Garden ( http://www.atoygarden.com/ ) makes sure to mark all toys that are made in the USA. They are easy to spot- look for the little American flag symbol.

I know some other toys they carry are made in Europe and possibly Canada, but I don't think they mark those.

I just checked DD's Rody horse and it (and the rocker) are made in Italy!
