Do any of you remember those doo-dads (paperweights? :P) that have at least two immiscible liquids (usually different colored or one colored and one colorless) that are in two different compartments and when you flip it over, the top colored liquid will "drip" into the bottom? Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I might find a few online?

Thanks!

Eileen

I was just looking at these in the lakeshore learning store - I'm sure this is way more than what you were looking for though.

I wonder if those bubble things are listed as office toys. I'll search some more. I know my old software company gave them out once, maybe they're on some promotional website.

I think they are called goo tubes or lava goo paperweights, if that helps in searching. Here is one I found.

i remember exactly what you're talking about, but haven't seen them in years (where it dripped a colored drop into the other side and they slid down a spiral). we have a large fish magnet that uses a similar idea from the monterey bay aquarium - there is a little fish inside that 'floats' between the layers. i'm sure if you called their gift shop, there's probably a way to have one shipped out.

also, i think we made something similar in a jar in kindergarten using oil and colored water. i think it was a clear oil like almond oil and blue food coloring in water. just created the layers you could shake up and watch it separate back out tho.

check this out, i'm sure they'll have what you're looking for... the "spiral timer" near the bottom is the one we had as kids.

That's it exactly! Thanks Ladies! Now I notice they have a bunch of alternatives so I'll have to see which one will be the most exciting for Kaya. :P
