Interlocking foam mat recommendations? (skip hop, etc)

Now that DS is sitting up and mobile enough to move around our floors, though not yet crawling, I'd like to increase his covered play area. Currently, he plays on a soft area rug over hardwood floors. I would like to stay away from a larger rug, b/c he likes to pull up the fibers and put them in his mouth (and they get loose and get on soft toys and his clothes).

We are looking at foam mats - I love the look of the Skip Hop Playspot, which is 1/2" thick. I have seen other sites selling the more traditional primary colored mats, which are 5/8" thick. Will the extra 1/8" make much of a difference?

If you have the Skip Hop, let me know what you think. If you bought from a mat supplier online, recommendations are welcome.

I bought a more traditional primary colored mat. We used it for such a short time that I wish I would have skipped buying it all together. My kiddo went from sitting up to crawling (and not staying on the mat) within 2 months.
My advice is to go with the cheapest option you can be happy with.
