My youngest DD is 19 months and quite petite (28" tall). She also isn't walking yet so I want to get her something to encourage her. She has a ride-on car that she can walk behind but it usually ends up sliding out from under her as it gets going too fast.

So which one of these walker toys from Haba? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Our youngest got this for her 1st birthday and it was way better than the walker we had for our oldest. It has something that clicks and kind of slows it down. I remember it could still get going pretty fast on smooth surfaces though.

I'd choose the Radio Flyer walker wagon over any of those. It has the clickers that slow it down, DD could use it long before she walked. One of my best friends has the HABA pram--it is beautiful IRL, but her daughter can't use it alone--and she can walk! The wheels speed up and it gets away from her. (They weigh it down and that helps a little)

I saw this toy at Costco today for $39.99 (normally $60 at other places)--the Chicco Quatro 4-In-One Ride-On. It has a walker component and might be good b/c it is multi-functional. I haven't ever tried it though, but thought I'd mention it.

Another vote for the Radio Flyer Wagon - loved it! Which I had bought it sooner.

You might want to look at this old thread (where I also rave about this walker) on the subject:

Thanks I had forgotten about that one even though it was what I wanted to buy her last year! LOL. We got the Little Tykes one for free and this one went out of stock.

I'm going to get it and give it to her now. She's getting a kitchen for Christmas so why wait? LOL

We have the Haba Walker Wagon and it doesn't go IMO too fast. It is quite stable, and heavy enough that on carpet, it moves pretty slowly. It moves a little faster on our hardwood, but still slower than most walking/push toys.

The RF Walker Wagon is another one that gets great reviews. Those two were my top 2 picks.

I hope I am not stepping on toes, and I'm not sure if you are considering or open to the idea of early intervention, but generally if kids aren't walking by 18 months it is a good time to call and schedule an eval. A pediatric physical therapist could direct you to some activities to help her along a bit. A nice stable push toy is a great idea to start with :)

Nope not at all. We go for the first appointment next Friday. She has several other delays so its going to be a long hard slog but thankfully we have good insurance.

I vote for the Haba wagon as well. My kids loved it, its very stable and well built, and even on the hardwood floors it doesn't get away from my kids when they push it.

The Radio Flyer wagon is nice too, but I think the Haba wagon is more solidly built and definitely holds up better to use and abuse.

I haven't seen the doll pram, but I think the walker wagon would be better because it's actually designed to hold a child sitting in front of the wagon. The description of the pram that I read online indicates that it isn't designed to hold the weight of a child in the pram part, and I would worry about a child trying to sit in and possibly breaking it.

Good Luck!

Have fun! It is adorable to watch them whizzing around with the wagon. DD was so excited to be mobile, she took it everywhere!

Best of luck to both of you. Starting early intervention is the toughest part. Hopefully you'll both find it really worthwhile and helpful once things get going :)
