I don't want a preschool one that just teaches letters and numbers (I have one like that already). I am looking for a kids version of a laptop that would have a full keyboard (or close to it) and do word processing and (hopefully) run windows or a similar OS. Has anyone seen anything like this? I know about the Alpha Smart but am wondering if there is anything that is more like a laptop. Its for my 8 year old that has trouble with handwriting to use for things like book reports.

Thanks,

Jessica.

Do you need a laptop -
is your child going to take it to different locations,
or could you get a low end pc to keep in the kitchen or other open area (NEVER in the bedroom!).

You can get a good desktop for very low prices these days.
Occasionally you will see a low end laptop.

At 8 your child should be able to handle a computer with little problems. if you put the word processing icon on the desktop dc would just have to click that to get to what is needed.
