We have roughly 3,769 Matchbox cars here (OK, some are HotWheels) and I'm looking for stuff to get DS1 and DS2 to go with them. I would prefer things that are sturdier and even wooden since DS2 cannot allow anything delicate or fragile to remain standing. All the MB/HW sets seem to be all plastic and not sturdy at all.

We have a parking garage that came with our train table from Costco two years ago. It is OK, but not anything spectacular. We also have a few mats with roads printed on them but that doesn't seem to be too exciting.

I saw these in the LakeShore catalog:

I'm not sure of the scale, though as they are not really detailed in the descriptions. If anyone has them or has seen them I would love feedback.

I was also looking at a 'road kit' from Barclay Blocks. Are there other wooden roadways that work with MB/HW cars?

Anything else out there that goes well with cars?

Should I just suck it up and make something myself?

Check out the Plan City garage and roadway. They work with matchbox cars.

I'll be watching this thread! We have cars EVERYWHERE and i try hard to keep them in one central spot - you can hear the "car" basket when it's being tipped from a mile away LOL! Just kidding of course!

My mom and DS play race games by putting one of the dining table leaves onto the edge of the couch and thereby creating a ramp.

I've purchased a few MB/HW ramps, etc on clearance (thank goodness!) in Target and they end up in the trash after a few playings.

My DS does alot of imaginary/creative play w/ the cars - tonight for instance they are at a car show; another night the drive in, or the mall, or the beach, etc.
