I know that such sets exists, I just don't know where to look online (I've checked the B&M stores in our area). However, some of them seem kind of cheapy and one tracked. Does anyone have a more substantial set they would recommend? My son already has a tool set that came with a car that he could put together. He's done it so many times, that he is bored with it and no longer puts on the tires, b/c he says it is a boat. I wonder if there is one available where the child can build more than just one car or vehicle. It seems that the ones I see for this age group, are usually only meant to be put together into one type of car and that is it, and gets boring once the child is really good at it. You can't really build a bunch of different cars with it, etc..

I'm not sure what you are looking for exactly, but are you familiar w/ Automoblox? I think the various sets can be interchanged, but I'm not 100 percent sure about that. We don't own any, but the reviews I've read have been really positive. Most kids seem to enjoy them a lot.

Lego makes some cars -
we opened one set for DS (almost 3) - and he loved it. It was a little too complex for him - so I helped.

check out lego.com and search the store for car - you can then narrow it by age.

I would check out Automoblox. The more sets you have the more fun. You can mix and match them. My DS likes to make really long cars.

Battat do cars like you describe. We have a crane that you can take apart and put back together with a toy drill.

Here's the same thing but for a 4.4 truck - it looks like a huumer

I got our take apart crane at Marshalls for less than $10 and I have seen the 4x4 there as well.
