View Full Version : Putting up eeboo wall cards?

I have 26 eeboo wall art cards (Animal Parade, A-Z) that I want to put up in Mika's room. They're fairly sturdy, but still flexible, so I want to frame them or something before putting them up. So my questions:

1) Does anyone know of a source where I could get 26 8x10 frames inexpensively?

2) Maybe there's an alternative I haven't thought of? I'm not opposed to putting up a chair rail type thing (but higher) and putting the cards on top of that, but not sure how it would in execution.

3) Other suggestions?

Thanks!

we have the tools versions of these. Tried putting them up with teacher-sticky tack, and they started falling down the first day. So that was not so good.

However, it seems to me that 26 wall frames would take up a LOT of space. I was thinking of putting up 2 or 3 at a time and then switching them out occasionally.

Hmm...that's a good point. I just measured and her room is 13-14' on two sides, so I can easily do 13 on each side near the ceiling. But I'll have to think about it some more. Thanks!

Eileen,
I have 36 cards - alphabet and 10 numbers. It's not the same as yours, it's May Gibbs (an Australian author). My mother and I mounted the cards with double sided tape on heavy cardstock, and then we used velcro dots to put them up around the room. We have a strip of trim around the top of the room, and the cards fit nicely between that and the ceiling. In 3 years, not one has come down.

I also saw a Martha Stewart idea - you use 2 lengths of trim and tuck the frieze between it. http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/alphabet-wall-frieze?lnc=817fcafb74ece010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCR D&rsc=navigation_home_painting

I like this idea better, but when DS was born we were in a rental, and then we moved and I never had the time other than using velcro dots.

Hope that helps.

Oh, what a great idea! That sounds like something I could do! When we repaint Mika's room, we'll look into the idea of getting some trim. We are tentatively thinking of a blue room with yellow trim.

I have a friend who did it the way shown on the Martha Stewart website. It looked really nice! As long as you use a leveling tool to hang the trim straight, it should be easy.

I actually used some kind of tacky wall putty by either Scotch or 3M with too much success.

I mounted them on the eaves in the kids' room (they have a slanty wall, actually it's the roof of the house - I think that's the eave?).

The tacky wall putty is very very sticky. The cards rarely fell down despite holding the cards up on an angle towards the floor.

I say too much success because when it was time to take them down to repaint, I had a very hard time! The cards came down easily but the putty left a residue, much like chewing gum, on the eave. When I did get that off, there was an oily spot left.

HTH. I like the frieze idea but would have been too lazy to do that!

You could also do string and hang with clothespins or another type of clip.

We used the Martha Stewart idea to create an Eeboo wall border around our dd's room and it really came out well. I went to Home Depot and bought thin strips of molding which I then painted and tacked onto our wall. Then, we just slid in the cards and it looks adorable and it was really very easy. I don't know how to post pics or I'd show you her room. It's also much cheaper than picture frames.

We hung alphabet cards on three walls of our playroom. We put a small screw at each end of each wall and put a piece of twine between them. We used tiny clothespins from the Container Store to hang each card & divided them up so the spacing was the same around the room. It was easy, cheap, and only required 6 holes!
