My dd's room is a very light pink & white room and we're in need of a toy storage unit to house all her toys. I'm looking for white wood with storage bins/baskets but I don't want to spend over $200.

Any suggestions??

We have the natural wood and primary color storage bins for ds. But they make a white shelf and pink bins at well. We have had the set up for almost a year now and I really like it. We have all his cars in one bin, Thomas in another, some Legos in another, a shelf has books and a shelf has other toys. I also bought a few of the rolling chalkboard bins for bigger toys. Very pleased with the quality for the price.

Bins:

We have the medium bookcase for $119. I swear I saw white ones on sale for $80 2 weeks ago. They were clearance though so they could be gone or it could have just been my store. On the website it still has the higher price:

They also have a small and large of that.

They also have the doll house bookshelf:

I had planned to get Company Kids' furniture but I think that this was probably similar in quality and less expensive. You could check there though. Lots of Pottery Barn Kids' styles for a lot less.

We 2 of the medium and 2 of the large bookcases in our playroom. They weren't too expensive and still look nice.

We have two of the large sized Ikea Expedit shelving units, and they have held up great since we bought them. They aren't real wood, but IMO, they don't look really offensive or anything. THe Ikea Branas baskets fit well in them. I think for the price it gives a LOT of storage. I like that right now we can put DS's little stuff up and out of reach of DD unless someone is available to supervise. We put her stuff on the lower shelves so she can access it. I put a lot of our books, etc. that I don't want to pick up 100 times a day on the upper shelves as well.

Try overstock.com. They often have nice storage options for not a lot of money. We have gotten bookshelves and other units from them, and you can't beat the shipping cost.

I'm considering IKEA's Trofast line for DS's room. I like having the flat top so we can put books on top with some sort of bookends. They have many pieces to fit any wall size. The bins come in several colors.

I'm considering the Expedit line for our family room. I really like the look of Expedit.

We just put the IKEA Trofast line in my sons large closet. They are great! It comes in white, and I think I saw new pink bins as well as white (along with other bright colors). My son can easily put the bins in and out (he's 3) and it makes toy clean up a breeze. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/rooms/childrens_room/12018/

Good luck-

Target's ad shows the Closetmaid 9-cube organizer on sale for $39.99 and the cubes (which we have an like, big and pretty sturdy) for 2 for $11.

We love the IKEA Expedit shelving too if you are near one. You can choose your size and could probably keep it around $200 depending on the bins you chose.

Good luck!

ETA: Forgot to link. For some reason, I can't find it on Target's website but it is in the weekly ad portion. Here is a link to one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ClosetMaid-9-Cube-Organizer-White-8644/dp/B000ETOG6G

I did see quite a few options on Target's website. Something like this would hold a decent amount: http://www.target.com/Whitmor-Kids%E2%80%99-12-Bin-Organizer-Pastel/dp/B000LRBSOE/qid=1192734833/ref=br_1_14/601-2273139-1661762?ie=UTF8&node=3073811&frombrowse=1&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=3073811&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=9

we have Ikea Expedit in white in DD's room and in tan in DH's office. we got baskets at Ikea too, but the target baskets work too. we also got a white bookshelf for her room at Ikea, i don't remember what the style is. it is not as deep as the Expedit, and i think it was $70. we also got one for our family room.

we have Ikea Bonde in our family room and it's almost the same style as Expedit, but maybe it has different shapes/heights and options--doors, lights, etc. i'm very happy with all of it.

good luck.

I was surprised by this sale price at PBK:

http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/hd405/index.cfm?bnrid=3501613&cm_ven=Email&cm_cat=Furniture_Sale&cm_pla=DTC%20&cm_ite=dtc_Petaluma%20bookcase&flash=on&cm_ref=http%3A//us.f546.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowLetter%3FMsgId%3D4042_4389944_56105_1890_4185_ 0_196263_26998_227252508%26Idx%3D65%26YY%3D51353%2 6y5beta%3Dyes%26y5beta%3Dyes%26inc%3D10%26order%3D up%26sort%3Ddate%26pos%3D1%26view%3D%26head%3D%26b ox%3DInbox

Of course, baskets are not included and it's not so cheap if you have to pay shipping. Who knows if it is even on sale at the stores.

We have the black/brown Expedits, one in the living room and one in the dining room (used to be both in the living room but I wanted more chair space in there!). They look great and I love how I can use the bottom cubes to keep Toby's stuff organized in a mixed use room and keep our stuff up above. The one in the dining room has napkins, creamers, pitchers and cookbooks on the top and puzzles and toys down below with a mix of books and stuff in the middle. Easy to keep mixed use rooms under control. I even keep my home office stuff there.

The one in the living room is smaller and we have our stereo, TV, records, DVDs etc on it with one cube of toys (blocks). It is great.

It looks almost as good as build ins do and they are easy to attach to the wall for safety.

I will stop sounding like an Ikea ad now. I swear my voice does not sound like that elf on the Ikea commercials.

I have an IKEA EXPEDIT unit (the 5x5) in white w/ various bins for toys, books, magazines and some of my stuff. I bought the unit used for $150 and spent about $50 on bins.

I love TROFAST! I am so mad that they did a changing table only THIS design year -- I often wished 2 years ago when I was shopping for DD's room that there was a way to use TROFAST as a changing table. I've had 3 TROFAST units since 1999 -- they've held computer equipment, paper, diapers, toys, clothing -- I love that they are so versatile!

I had the exact same thought when I was at IKEA. They had the changing table set up with a whole wall unit-worth of TROFAST shelving and hanging bars; it was SOOO cool!

We just got two of the "step" units for toy and clothing storage in DS's room. They look really good. I think I want more for another room. I love getting all organized. :)
