Great list!

Somehow I went way overboard this year on the big items.
I have twins (girls) that turn 2 right before Christmas. So far they are getting (bday and Christmas)

Train table and track
Kitchen
FP My First Dollhouse
a couple Schleich animals
couple Playsilks
crayons/stickers/band-aids for stockings
Books

Rody Ponies (from grandpa)
Doll strollers (from Aunt)
tons of little people (grandma)
No clue what the in-laws are getting.

I wanted to do dress up stuff, a garage and cars, the rainbow arches, unit blocks, puzzles, and lacing beads, but that was when we weren't doing the train table. Now that we have that, the other stuff will have to wait!

We went way overboard this year.

DS (Age 23 months at Christmas)

Costco train table (Santa)
Ryan's Room fire station and fire truck (me)
Playskool triple track racer (me)
Rocking horse (grandparents)

His father is buying him something for the 24th and he'll also receive small gifts on Dec. 6 for Nikolaus (flashcards, horse slippers, and...)Being half German, this boy cleans up in the holiday gift department.

Stocking - playdoh, crayons, chalk, ABC flashcards, and bathtub crayons.

For his birthday in January he's getting another big gift - Puky balance bike.

DS#1 - age 4.5

Lego firestation set
Cranium Ballpark Blast game

DS#2 - age 2.5

Mighty 8-story parking garage http://www.fao.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=325
Honeybee hop game

DH likes that you can start the car from the top and it goes all the way down the ramp. Also good for 2 kids to play together :)

Both boys will get the wooden tool bench that Costco sold last year. It's been in our basement for a whole year.

We are trying to buy less this year. We bought so much last year that the boys were overwhelmed and didn't open some presents.

Ohh and if anyone is thinking about buying the Fisher Price Race and Go speedway...it was a HUGE hit last year.

On another thread I saw something about following this approach to gifts-something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read-so I'm going to mostly try to stick to that to limit what the DCs get.

DD (age 4)
want: guitar
need: puzzle
wear: Croc mammoths
read: haven't decided yet; maybe another Fancy Nancy story since we like the first one so much

DS (will be 18 months)
want: Selecta Variola ball track
need: eeboo tot tower (nesting blocks)
wear: sleep sack(s)
read: an Usborne touchy feely book about animals, but can't remember exactly which one I bought

Stockings (for both): train tracks, Klean Kanteen or Sigg water bottle, bubble bath, new eating utensils, and for DD a card game or some new BrainQuest cards and maybe some new paintbrushes or paint pens, and for DS probably a train just to try to make it more "even". Oh, and an orange to go in the toe!

I had posted in the other one, but thought I'd post my updated list as I have revamped, etc...

DS (will be 4 in two weeks)

Haba Dingalingaling game
Haba sock matching game
Some Geotrax stuff (he'll get the GCS set for bday so I want to add on)
Playmobil something or other (maybe the crane?)

Stocking: some Cars guys, little Travis from Bob, Buzz and Woody stickers

DD (will be just about 21 months at xmas)

FP My First Dollhouse
LP market
A bunch of doll furniture (stroller, bed, maybe high chair with feeding accessories)

Stocking: Those little round Crayola markers and paints that are meant for little kids, playdough, not sure what else yet

I just hope one of those last two gifts for DS is that WOW one! I had wanted some Fireman Sam stuff but shipping was way too expensive.

Do you know what type of cars go on that 8 story garage? We don't have many match box type, but do have tons of other larger types. I'm just trying to figure out the sizing.

-new PJ's for x-mas eve
-my parents are getting him a FP Noah's ark
-I hope someone will get him the FP ramps around garage, if not we will for x-mas!

>Where did you find a first tea set?

I am looking at this one...it reminds me of one I had when I was little:

http://www.babyscholars.com/chtintease.html

I ordered this book from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/My-Very-First-Tea-Party/dp/0736902430/ref=pd_bxgy_t_img_b/002-1554316-3148835

There are a few others I've looked at:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN2/B00005ATWC/qid=1015368844/seedsofknowledbo
http://store.wokits.com/int-2044.html

My sister gave us something like this, but I can't give it to dd until she's a little older.

I really need to stay away from these threads I only get in more trouble!

Okay my DD turns four in January so this list is for both.

Dress up dress with poofy pink tutu

Beatrix Potter Child's tea set for two (Reutter Porcelain)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Beatrix-POTTER-Tea-Set-with-Bunnies-Teapot-Beswick_W0QQitemZ130172226564QQihZ003QQcategoryZ12 521QQcmdZViewItem
(this is a similar but bigger set than I found)

Playmobil Take a long Christmas House

ipod shuffle- she constantly steals my video ipod so this is more self preservation

Elisabeth Swann Pirates of Caribbean costume for dress up. Is much cuter in person and hey it was only $14 at the store.
http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/DSIProductDisplay?catalogId=10003&storeId=10052&productId=1211938&langId=-1&categoryId=14690&catalogFromSearch=10002

Barclay Blocks to replace her old painted ones.

Bean bag chair

a ton of holiday books I got last year on clearance plus- The Snow Queen (see post above that convinced me I need it)

Lego Belville
http://www.lego.com/belville/products.asp
not sure which one yet but she really loves princesses and I am tired of Disney so I thought this might be a good alternative.

My husband also has two gifts he has ordered for her that he refuses to tell me about which I find both incredibly sweet and irritating. Of course that could be because last year his picks were TMX Elmo and MMClubhouse. She liked them but wow were they annoying. :)

I a trying to steer clear of too many toys made in China, etc., and in addition we really have too many toys to begin with so I may whittle this list down a bit. I also put together a list of books for relatives who really want to buy her something, and my mom has been hitting the holiday craft fairs for handmade clothes for her dolls. Still- I think we will have to do some sorting/donating after the holidays.

I tried to edit, the other thread is locked. Things have changed a bit, especially since I decided not to buy Thomas stuff and the train thing I was going to get him was either Knapford Station or the one with the barge.

4 year old boy:

-Eggs and breakfast play foods.

-IKEA Tea Set

-Doll house, partially furnished.

-Some new art stuff- rolls of easel paper, lined paper.

-A cash register and other things to play store with. Looking for a good one still. This is his big thing to replace the trains I decided against.

-Sesame Street Old School Vol. 2

-A number of books, including And Tango Makes Three and some vintage Sesame Street golden books.

-A new red coat.

-A bike to replace his trike he has outgrown. I could not justify this to myself as an additional expense so we sold the trike and used the money for a bike. A used kettler Junior on CL with accessories brought us $60 and that will be used for a 2 wheel bike with training wheels.

Stocking:

-The King and Chick cars.
-Kaleidescope
-Cards with answers to questions on them.
-stockmar crayons
-Sesame Street train cars I found at a used store.

****Rocking out while parenting my smart little 4 year old munchkin Toby.

We're a blended family, so dd (who will be 18 months old) celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. Here's what I've got on her list for each.

Hanukkah
Playsilks
Ryan's Room Easy Make Snake
My Quiet Book
Haba Shape Stacker

Christmas
The Learning Tower
I See Me Personalized Book
Plan Toys Nuts and Bolts
broom from smallhands.com

Her stocking will have something like a wee play cd, a Crocodile Creek placemat, and an automatic toothbrush.

I did get them and they are small, but great! I like them. Considering I was thinking of getting a bed from Novanatural that was $70 or so, I think this is a great bargain. And I got two so she can put all of her babies to sleep. I think the quality is far better than American Girl.

I have to say - I have gotten *so* many ideas from this thread! My DS should write you all a thank you note! (I'm still reading it for more ideas.)

For us, we always do a $100 limit on gifts, with a $25 limit on the stocking. We think it allows us to focus on finding the perfect gifts at the perfect price. (Even our 14 year old DD enjoys it, so I figure it must be a good idea.)

For us, we're getting (so far - we're not done yet):

DS (age 4)

French Kitchenette from Oompa.com - we wanted to get him a kitchen, but don't have enough floor space for a big one, so this is perfect
(http://www.oompa.com/baby-toys/item/WH706910/Educo-French-Kitchenette-Instantanee---FREE-SHIPPING.html)

Melissa & Doug Cutting Food Crate - He loves to cut things
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000GKD09C/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance)

Namits Junior - We travel a fair bit, so this should make that easier
(http://www.namits.com/products.asp)

DD (age 14)

Various MakeUp from e.l.f cosmetics - I love this place.

Bath and Body Works Vanilla Trio - thanks to the great deals posted in the Bargains Thread!

Pirates of the Carribean 3 - DH works for Disney, so we give a lot of Disney stuff at holidays

Jack Skellington Thermal

Commander Norrington Figure - she has a crush on him

A new robe

SnuggleBuggles

This is my first pass and I know we will narrow it down. I will only buy one big ticket item- so either the bike or the Lego set. The bike makes more sense but ds really wants this one Lego set. I still have to ask him what he wants from Santa. Usually he only wants 1-2 things so we will get those items for sure.

Boy, 5.5yo:

Cranium Triple Triumph
bike
Mars' Mission Command Center Legos
Lite Brite
Pajama Sam computer game
Stare Jr. game
we are going to make out own Find It game
superhero/ spy utility belt
play food
Magnetix
more marble track
books

Stocking:
Color change markers
Marble Inn game
more art supplies

Baby, less than 1 month:
special edition Care Bear (I couldn't resist. Has choking hazards though so it will be merely decorative for years to come!)
no other ideas- if ds weren't around we wouldn't buy anything for the baby but ds would think that was very strange.
