My mom just got The Runaway Dinner by Allan Ahlberg for B and we LOVE it! It's hysterical. I'm definitely now getting him the Jolly Postman for his birthday (same author).

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there!

The Jolly Postman is pretty fragile; lots of bits and bobs, letters in envelopes and things. I'd avoid it for a small child. But "Meow!" is a great lift-the-flap book by Allan Ahlberg, and "The Bravest Ever Bear" is also one of our favorites.

Well he'll be 4 so I think he can handle the letters, I'll just have to keep it away from our 19 month old! Maybe I'll get her Meow. Thanks!

We have The Jolly Pocket Postman and LOVE it! It definitely has lots of bits and bobs, though- I keep it on a high shelf and we read/play with it together. Littleman (4) could probably handle it on his own, but Sweetcheeks (2) would destroy it for sure. But anyway, it's a great little book. Very fun!

There's also The Jolly Christmas Postman. The Jolly Postman was one of my favs as a teacher - great teaching tool!
