Does anyone have a great homemade play doh recipe? We received some recently as a party favor. It reminded me that I've wanted to make some since DS1's teacher brought in homemade gingerbread play doh around the holidays last year. It was sooo yummy smelling. I think it would be a nice project for the weekend.

I would love a gingerbread playdough recipe!

Here's the Kool Aid Playdough recipe we use. I love the bright colors and smell of the Kool Aid.

Kool Aid Playdough

¼ cup salt
1¼ cup flour
1 package kool aid
1½ Tbsp oil
1 cup boiling water

Mix dry ingredients. Add oil. Add water and knead. If sticky, add more flour. Put in plastic zip lock bag and refrigerate.

It keeps well if you put it in ziplocks! Have fun making it!

We use a similar recipe, but I use baby (mineral) oil. I'm not sure that it makes any difference in the finished product's texture. I would have thought that by using veg oil, you'd have to watch for mold? Have you ever had that happen? Do you keep it in the fridge at all? I just keep ours in a tupperware container. My kids love play-dough so I make it a lot. The are older too, so no eating it anymore thank goodness! I like the kool-aid idea - I'll have to try that!
