ds really loves his die-cast cars. i've seen some mixed reviews on tru.com, but i was hoping to get some advice from you wise ladies. i like the cars carrying case that has a track on the side. it is cheap and looked simple and pretty fool-proof. the other tracks would be more fun maybe, but also more likely to break or not work properly. any opinions greatly appreciated!!

We don't have this one but I find most of the Cars stuff to be pretty fair to poor quality. That being said, we have a hotwheels carry case and the lid always comes off - not breaks, but comes off the hinges. DS's can't put it back themselves but it is very simple. Was that the problem with this one?

We haven't had any cars (pixar/hotwheels/matchbox etc) ramps or race ways that wasn't a pain in the neck.

This year we are trying this ramp

and maybe some Darda tracks for DS1 birthday.

Where are you purchasing the Darda car tracks from?

Glad to here you like the ramp. Is it decently sturdy? SOme of these toys look so fun but end up being so junky.

I haven't purchased Darda yet. I think I will from Amazon. I just wish it had free shipping.....

We have this set:

DS got it for his birthday and likes it, but hasn't played with it as much as Dh hoped. It takes up a fair amount of space, so that is a drawback. We were hoping for something that would fit on his train table, but this is a bit too large, so we end up putting it away more than we would if it fit out of the way on the train table. We haven't had any of the problems that reviews mentioned with the motor or poor quality, but we've only had it for a short time.

Hmm... Sturdy is a hard question. I think the reviews on Amazon are good to read. Basically it is sturdy but comes apart at the joints, so it won't break. I don't let my kids play with it without me.

We also have some hotwheel's tracks which clamps on a table. I like that some come with loops. We are also getting some for Hanukkah/Christmas presents.

These aren't toys I leave the kids alone with.
