I am pregnant with our first child due on December 27th. We recently purchased a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SUV, which will be the primary car for transporting baby. I believe the car is equipped with the LATCH tether.

I have heard good things about the Graco SnugRide with 5 pt. harness and mixed reviews on the Century SmartFit Plus, which are the 2 seats I have been seriously considering. Are either of these LATCH compatible? Do I necessarily need a seat that is?
Any recommendations for other seats?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there. Currently, there are NO LATCH infant seats on the market. The only LATCH seats are convertible seats.

Do you have our book, BABY BARGAINS? We have a run-down of the current situation with LATCH seats in Chapter 7. We also explain what LATCH is. In short, LATCH is just a new way to attach a seat which is easier than previous methods. But it is NOT necessary, as new cars can still use non-LATCH seats as well.
