Is a base necessary for infant seat installation in car?

Hello!

My friend is letting me borrow her Peg Perego infant seat with a base. We want the ability to let my husband and grandparents to travel with the infant seat. Can the seat be hooking into the car with the seatbelt (like the old fashioned way) without an extra base? Just looking to save some expense on buying extra Peg bases at $50 a pop.

You have to use the base with the peg car seat every time. That is one reason people do not like it. Are extra bases $50? Wow! We never got an extra base, but we do not have family in the area and I only work 3 days a month so it was never a problem ds always rode in the same car.

The bases are only $30. If you can't get a good price locally, try eBay.
