Our daughter is just about to outgrow her Graco Snugride car seat. We are hoping to find a convertable that will last awhile. We have been looking Cosco Alpha Omega convertable and the Evenflo Truimph 5. Any thoughts or suggestions on either? The Alpha Omega looks pretty nifty, is it too good to be true? I know the Britax is supposed to be the best but it's a bit out of our price range. Does Graco make anything good after the Snugride? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Your instinct is right, the "AO" IS too good to be true. most kids outgrow it by height at about age 2 or 3 and weigh way less than 40 pounds, while they are still really too young to be using the seat as a booster. also, there are some real major complaints about the straps twisting. If you have a zany brainy near you, roundabouts are going for $139 and under (or so the rumors go), and babylove.com has them for $159, and babies r us also has them on closeout in a lot of locations. Graco DOES make a convertible seat, the ComfortSport that is reasonably well liked, and the Triumph is also quite a good choice. Here's Toby's buying guide http://www.carseatdata.org/convertible.html and here's a link to why rearfacing till the limits of the seat is SO important and so much safer for your baby http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/extendedrf.aspx have fun shopping!
