I am looking for a recomendation for a lightweight car seat to be used on airplanes. I live in the UK and will buy seats here for everyday use. However, we do a lot of traveling, particularly in the US. Therefore, I'd like to get a lightweight seat on my next trip to the US that is FAA approved. Thanks!

The Graco ComfortSport is a relatively light, inexpensive model that is often recommended and is FAA approved. The rearfacing weight limit is 30 pounds, and the back is rather tall...I bet my 30 pound 3 year old would fit rearfacing ;). Even lighter and even less expensive is the Cosco Touriva, but the straps are really quite twist-prone and the harness adjuster can be quite difficult. Various models of Evenflo seats are also quite light, but, again, there're numerous complaints about the harness adjusters. All of these seats are FAA approved, and have stickers with red ink on the seats that say so, if anyone asks you. good luck! Julie
