DD is four months old and weighs 13 pounds and is 24.5 inches long. Does anyone know when I will need to move her into another car seat? She looks like is getting to long for it already.

The listed height limit on that seat is 26 inches, but what you really want to look at is how close her head is to the top of the seatback. If there's under an inch from the top of her head to the top of the back of the seat, then it's time for the convertible seat. Don't worry about feet, they can stick out the bottom and it's not a problem at all, safety-wise. It's not uncommon for babies that young to outgrow that seat :( (They aren't lying when they call it Snug!)

Next time around, get the Britax Companion. Holds a kid up to 30"!!!

Yeah...it costs twice as much, but it does last twice as long :) There are going to be new rules that infant seats have to have a standard taller back height soon, so we'll be back to the old days again where infant seats actually last a whole year...yay! (Makes me feel old...the evenflos and centuries my friends hauled their babies around in 6 years ago DID last them all a year or more... ;) )

Does this mean that we won't be able to use the same seat for #2 when the time comes? Or, is that not recommended anyway?

Oh no, not at all, sorry! You can use the same seat for the next baby. They change regulations all the time, but it never means seats are suddenly unusable. You can use your infant seat for 6 years from DOM, as long as it's not in a crash and you have all the parts and manuals and any recalls fixed, IF there are any.

Thanks for the info. Maddie's head is about 2 inches from the top. At she has been growing about an inch to 1.5 inches a month. Looks like I need to start looking into convertable car seats. I'm fairly sure that we will get the Britax RA, or the Marathon.
