View Full Version : Would it be feasible for a 1 yo to still be in an infant seat and be FF?

There was almost a fist fight at playgroup today when talking about car seats. :P

If a child is still within the weight/height limits of the infant seat, but is 20 lbs and 1 year old, can you turn them FF? I know some kids are on the petite side and could conceivably still fit in their infant seats...just seems odd to me, especially since we moved Brendan to a MA at 3 months (for comfort reasons).

Your thoughts? What about safety? Is an infant seat even designed to be FF?

No, no infant-only seat can possibly ever be used FF...at all. They are rearfacing only.
It's conceiveable they could still fit in a big infant seat, like the old cosco designer 35, that went to 35 pounds rf and fits most kids to age 2 at least, and to be in another seat, like in another car or whatever, that faces forward, if they are over age 1 and 20 or 22 pounds (whatever the ff minimum is).
If anyone's got their infant seat ff, send them over here, we'll straighten them out ;) (gently, of course!)
