We are deciding what fabric to get on a Britax roundabout or marathon. We live in Texas where it is very hot and I am concerned about the Colonial Blue fabric b/c it is a velvety material. I don't want it to be to hot for our baby. Any help would be great!

Colonial Blue (and stormy) is one of the cooler colors, since the "nap"/pile is so low. Also, Freedom is great, and New Blues is 100% cotton and is a good choice. I guess it's the full velours you want to avoid, but the colonial blue is much less fluffy and hot.

Is the denim on the new blues soft? We're going to be getting a marathon soon, and I want a "cooler" fabric since it roasts here during the summer. The website said new blues is just like jeans, but I'm worried that it might not be comfy sitting on that for DS. Is it a nice beat up pair of jeans, or is it like a stiff brand new from the store pair? :) Thanks

I think it's pretty soft, for denim. At least, I don't know of anyone who thinks it's way too scratchy or rough for their baby (and my 6 yo ds thinks it's softer on his booster than another cover he has, too!)

I have been researching this exact issue - we live in the Dallas area too. I wondered if you found any add'l info other than this replies that were posted on this list. Did you learn anything about the Marathon Racer being too hot? Thanks for any feedback and welcome to Texas (and motherhood soon!)

There's a mom here from Arizona that started out with the Racer (when she lived in Texas) and it was way too hot...the sides are black velour. The middle is sort of cool and shiny and not bad, but as soon as she moved to AZ she got the Colonial Blue and Freedom. I hope she's here to chime in at some point! :)

Thanks so much everyone!

I had assumed that the lighter colors would be better than the Racer b/c of the black on it. My dh really liked that one but I think we are going to stick with the Colonial Blue.

Thanks
