I just had my Roundabout (rear facing) car seat checked by a local police officer. The seat fits solidly in my non-latch car with the tether to the bolt of the front seat. The officer said that I should not tether the seat at all when it is rear facing...he said the seat needs to "ride with the crash". I am so confused!! I know that Britax seats are the only ones that allow you to tether rear facing. Do I tether or not???

Thanks!

Yes, tether it. Here's a page with more info on that: http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/BraceTether.aspx
Also go to www.carseat.org and look in the "technical" section on the left under "Top Tether, rearfacing", it has even more info.

Hope that helps,
:)

Thank you so much for the link. I have been trying to figure out the best way to install my RA. I had heard that nobody (neither Britax or the car manufacturer) would tell me the best way to use the tether (due to liability issues). The article you referred to explained the differences.

Who would have thought that it would be so difficult to get an answer!

In gratitude,
