We had a tether installed for when we forward-face our RA, and they put it in the trunk. We have a 1997 Volvo 850. I can't for the life of me figure out how that will work, but Volvo says that's standard for cars of that vintage. But that would mean that we'd have to somehow install the carseat with the seat pulled slightly forward, then lock it, in which case I can't see how we'd get the tether tight enough. Thoughts?

My BIL and his wife have 2 DD's ~ they're FF seats are anchored in the trunk ~ try pulling the seat back forward and placing the tether back there then push the seat back back into place buckle the carseat in then go through the trunk and anchor it ~ I hope that made sense.

Interesting. Are they able to tighten the tether correctly even with the seat locked in place?

Check your vehicle manual or call Volvo and ask them how to route the tether back there. I remember reading somewhere once that a tether was fed through the crack in the seat (called the bight) to the trunk, but I don't know what make/model vehicle it was.
