One of my friends told me at my shower this weekend that there may be a problem with using the Britax Marathon on airplanes. Has anyone experienced that problem? We fly quite a bit to visit my husband's family, so I would like a seat I can use on the plane.

Thanks,

There should be no problem. I know of many people that have traveled with their Marathons and no one that I can think has had a problem aside from the fact that it is a heavy seat to lug around but there are ways to make that easier. The Marathon is approved for airplane use.

We just flew American Airlines(with a "wider seat" plane) and had no problem putting the Marathon in the seat. We did have to recline the seat a little, otherwise the Marathon looked like it was too upright. We also bought the Eddie Bauer car seat carrier at BRU for about $20 that the seat fit in snugly. It's got 2 pockets on the side that were great to put DS' lovey and small toys in!

I just used our MA on Southwest Airlines and didn't have any problem at all. I put it in our P3 stroller to get around the airport and wore my little guy in a sling.

I travel with the Marathon all the time and have never had a problem installing it rear facing in any size plane.

There has been quite a bit of discussion about it here, and no one has ever said they have had a problem with it. You may have to request a seat belt extension to make it easier to install forward facing, but that is true of most car seats I think.

We are going to fly with our Marathon next week. We will have to switch planes halfway through the trip, so I am looking for suggestions for how we can make this as easy as possible - I thought I had heard somewhere that you can pull the straps through the marathon and wear it like a backpack (or did I just dream this??) Otherwise, does the Eddie Bauer bag make it easier to lug the seat through the airport, or is it just good if you plan to check the seat??
Thanks,
Robin
