The moderator of another board I frequent has a contact at Britax and here's the deal with the adjuster straps:

Q: Do you know why replacing the strap, as opposed to the adjuster itself, would fix the problem. Is the strap a different material or weave that doesn't "polish"?

A: As to the adjuster strap rather than the adjuster, during our evaluation, we looked at various webbings and the adjuster for possible resolution. The replacement adjuster strap is a thicker polyester webbing than was used on the Marathon, Husky, Wizard, and Traveller Plus products. In choosing the replacement webbing, we tested taking into account other potential adjuster and webbing issues - routing, polish, debris, specification changes, etc. In all situations, the chosen webbing did not slip. While the adjuster strap continues to be made of polyester, there is a different weave pattern. For many, the weave pattern may be barely noticeable.

Q: Also, If all Traveller Plus seats are included, why is the Super Elite not included?

A: As to the Traveller Plus but not the Super Elite, the Traveller Plus that is included in this recall is the one being distributed by Snug Seat, not the previously Britax distributed Traveller Plus . The older Traveller Plus restraints had the smaller 1" (25mm) webbing - similar to the Super Elite. The new Traveller Plus has the same adjuster as the Husky - 1.5" (38mm) webbing.
