Can anyone tell me how I can find out which is the newest Graco SnugRide car seat? I see some low priced ones online but I can't tell how old they are and if they have the latest safety upgrades.

Is it safe to use a used car seat in "great condition" that is more than two years old?

Thanks,
Jen

As long as you know the history of the seat (that is, if it's never been in a crash), then a 2 year old seat meets all the current safety standards. Nothing much has changed in infant seats since they added Airbag labels (1996) and LATCH (2002). Seats, if they are not crashed, and have all their parts and manuals, are perfectly safe to use for 6 years.
There was a recall on some Snugrides recently, check here to see if it applies to you http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/hot/pressdisplay.cfm?year=2002&filename=pr18-02.htm

When I was looking for carseats, I noticed that the snugride also had different price points. I realized after reading baby bargains (for the umpteenth time) that it was because of the strap adjustments were in the rear of the seat or some caveat like that. Also check to make sure that the harness is a five point one. Those are my ideas!
Hope they help!
